A statement of the pilot and sniper, Commander of the 18th Special Helicopter Detachment which participated in the United Nations mission to stabilize the Democratic Republic of Congo, Andriy Kohut.

1625623_697559943639847_2635360746073405468_nRespected colleagues, brothers in arms!

I am addressing you as the commander of a special air force subdivision, a Colonel and a veteran pilot of Afghanistan who has served in the armed forces of the Soviet Union and of Ukraine for more than thirty-five years.

The events of the last days have changed my attitude toward our neighboring country where many of my friends live. On May 2nd two MI-24 helicopters were shot down killing their crews. The victims were my colleagues, officers with whom we carried out military activities under the aegis of a UN mission, where it was truly dangerous. They survived Africa, but died at the hands of Russian mercenaries. I repeat: foreigners who came to my country and killed my friends!

As a soldier, I know that only a professional would be able to fire from a Mobile Anti-Aircraft Missile Complex (PZRK). And this fact confirms that Ukrainians are not at war with separatists from the Donetsk region, but with trained and prepared soldiers. They are destroying our national symbols and are hoisting the flag of a foreign country, the Russian Federation, onto our national buildings. It is clear that open, brutal and unprincipled aggression is being carried out by our Slavic neighbor.

The fact that the fighters are using the local population as human shields, shooting from behind women and children, reveals the moral tenor of this aggression.

10171849_697559946973180_3741358179115672475_nIt has been proven that these murderers are being managed by persons in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation. I am consciously not calling them officers, because those who hide their identifying badges and shoulder straps and have aimed their submachine guns against their brother nation cannot be called officers.

Looking at their faces on television I assume that we served together in the same Soviet army and, as an experienced man, I can assure you that such human garbage was always censured in our officers’ collective.

It is difficult to understand the position of simple Russians. Their top leadership started a war against its brother nation which drove out its president, the biggest thief in history. We condemned Islamists who carried out terrorist acts in Russia’s largest cities, shared concern over the tragic events of “Nord-Ost” and supported the anti-terrorist operations in the Northern Caucasus. And now our brother nation is quietly accepting the Kremlin’s policy toward Ukraine.

We were once taught that fighting for one’s country was sacred. And that’s how it is now. We are in our own country, under our own flags, defending our sovereignty and our borders which have been recognized by the whole world. As a pilot who has many times used aerial weapons and who knows the value of life, I declare: the enemies who have killed my colleagues and friends, will die. I, personally, and all Ukrainian pilots will do everything possible to ensure that the enemy will encounter grief in our country. We are proud of our Ukrainian officers, our warrant officers, sergeants and soldiers who are fighting these criminals. Remember: the air force pilots are with you! We possess enough professionalism, skill and moral tenacity to destroy the enemy! Glory to Ukraine!

Dmitry Tymchuk’s Military Blog: Summary – May 8, 2014

Dmitry Tymchuk, Information Resistance

05.08.2014
Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine

information_resistance_logo_engBrothers and sisters!

I apologize for posting our summary a little earlier today, for organizational reasons. Hopefully, nothing bad will happen by the end of today. If something good happens–please.

So, here’s the Summary for May 8, 2014 (for the previous summary, please see Summary for May 7

The bad news:

1. In Luhansk and Donetsk, the pro-Russian clowns, who loudly announced themselves as “National Councils” (although “alcoholic interest clubs” or “Putin’s money fan clubs” would be more appropriate) have nevertheless decided to hold their show named “referendum on independence” in these Oblasts [regions].

Tonight, good people burned to hell over a million prepared blank forms in the printing shops of Donbas. But Moscow has money in bulk. They will print out more.

In general, after the upcoming exacerbation on May 9, [people] should prepare for events after May 11, when this very “referendum” is scheduled. This scenario is known from [events in] Crimea: just under 100% of the population will “vote” for “independence,” and Uncle Vova [diminutive for Vladimir Putin] will tend to the “protection of people’s will” thereafter.

If we don’t stop this separatist circus now, it will be much more difficult to do it later.

2. An armored “Tiger” vehicle broke through the border checkpoint from Russia–a “gift” to separatism from [controversial Russian politician, Vladimir] Zhirinovsky. Then, it traveled through Luhansk.

What an outrageous occurrence. But here, I’d like to share our common alarming observations in general.

Yes, the overall reliability of the Ukrainian-Russian border protection in Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts is questionable. On the one hand, nobody has cancelled corruption. But a far greater problem is that the border control officers do not have significant forces and capabilities to cope with large extremist groups or, as in this case, with armored vehicles, on their own.

This is–the task for other law enforcement agencies, which should reinforce the “border guards.” If there is no cooperation, then we won’t be able to resolve the border issue.

3. Today, Putin has gathered the Presidents of his satellite countries from the Collective Security Treaty Organization–Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. He decided to show them the “Potemkin” exercises of the Russian troops. They rolled out serious weaponry–a heavy flame thrower system TOS-1. Gave the command to open fire.

And… pshik… zilch. Nothing happened.

If I were a Russian, I would be concerned by the fact that their miracle leader who only has tanchiki [diminutive for tanks] in mind also has a nuclear button. If this maniac, preparing to fight with the whole world, decides to use it, there will be no Urals anymore. Moscow Oblast [region] will cease to exist, too. For the arms of valiant Russian warriors do not grow out of the same place that all normal people’s arms grow.

The bad thing about this is that Putin doesn’t intend to impress the world with high-tech, efficient farming or Russian culture. This insane individual can do nothing else but rattle a saber. Even if it doesn’t always perform.

The good news:

1. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council [Andriy] Parubiy has announced that yesterday’s statement by Putin to postpone the “referendum” by Ukrainian separatists–is a political scam.

The Ukrainian government is well aware that Putin’s words are lies backed by nothing else except nefarious plans to lull Kyiv’s alertness. And this means that the anti-terrorist operation [ATO] will continue for as long as Ukrainian terrorists don’t rest. In detention center or on the long-suffering land of Donbas.

It’s obvious there is nothing good about Putin’s lie. But the fact that the Ukrainian government doesn’t believe in it, and is ready to continue to save Ukraine–is a definite plus.

2. By lunchtime today, we ended the monitoring of regional preparation for possible provocations that may take place tomorrow, May 9. If the overall forecast is not very reassuring, then it at least gives us hope.

Yes, there are a lot of weaknesses. But in general, the security forces and local authorities have taken measures to ensure that a tragedy like the events in Odesa on May 2 won’t be repeated.

Of course, we can’t make any promises. And we don’t expect that Victory Day will go smoothly. We must be ready for anything–especially those of us in Donbas.

3. On the eve of Victory Day, Russian social media broadcast information that in the Alexander Garden in the Kremlin, the only stele dedicated to the Hero cities in the heart of Moscow that remained without flowers–was the stele of Kyiv.

Just a couple of hours after this message, the stele of the Hero city of Kyiv was inundated with flowers.

There are adequate people still left in Moscow. Thank you to them. After all, Victory Day is our common holiday. And we, the IR group, would like to congratulate all of you, my brothers and sisters, with it!

And [a couple of words] for the future. We defeated Hitler’s Nazism, and we will defeat Putin’s Nazism.

Putins Skrupellosigkeit

Ukraine-Human-Rights.org ist ein Fake! Ciriticusnixalsverdruss erklärt, was daran so schlimm ist.

Igor Wasilij Popolochowitsch's avatarRT - Russian Truth

Putins Propaganda at its worst:

Zum Vergleich eine Originalseite von Amnesty International:

Die Seite scheint noch deutlich neuer zu sein als ihre Registrierung. Keiner der Menüpunkte scheint mit Inhalten hinterlegt zu sein. Jedenfalls sind keine abrufbar. Zu der klassischen Greuelpropaganda in Form des Hinrichtungsvideos verkneife ich mir jeden Kommentar.  Auf den ersten Blick:…

Thomas Friedman: Putin Fears Ukraine Much More Than America

chornajuravka's avatarEuromaidan PR

Serhiy Leshchenko, Ukrayinska Pravda, 25 April 2014, 17:40

Thomas Friedman is an American journalist, one of the world’s most influential columnists writing twice weekly for the world’s most influential newspaper, The New York Times. His subjects for analysis, not mere news coverage, are international politics, globalization, and the Middle East.

Friedman received the first of his three Pulitzer Prizes for covering the 1982 Lebanon war, and the name of his second to last book, The World Is Flat, has become just as much of a mem as Francis Fukuyama’s The End of History. All Western researchers and experts either agree with him or refer to him.

While visiting Kyiv with his lecture, A Brief Theory of Everything, Friedman shared with Ukrayinska Pravda his impartial thoughts on the transformations of post-revolution states, and spoke about Vladimir Putin’s fears.

Pro-Russian extremists severely tortured captured Donetsk miners

chornajuravka's avatarEuromaidan PR

intx

Miners captured by terrorists on May 4 in Novohrodivka in Donetsk Oblast were subjected to brutal torture at the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Regional TV and Radio building controlled by the extremists.  The victims described their ordeal at a press conference in Kyiv on May 8.

According to miners Oleksandr Hurov and Oleksandr Vovk, the prisoners were tortured by former policemen. One of the torturers had a chevron of the special ‘Griffin’ force. “There are many rooms there and people screaming in inhuman voices. Through the window you can see a Russian flag,” said Hurov.
