Generals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeal to the President of the Russian Federation, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
“We, veterans of the Armed Forces, served in the same ranks as Russians for many years. Together, we took part in localizing many military conflicts. Together, we spilled our blood in the Afghan war. Many of our ancestors lie in the same communal graves – together.
We are forced to state that deployment of military detachments and units, including paratroopers, special forces, mechanized troops, air forces, and ships of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Crimean peninsula constitutes an act of open aggression against the sovereign state of Ukraine. Blockade, capture and disarming military units and ships of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as coercing Ukrainian military servicemen to treason, may have irreversible consequences.
Morally, Ukrainian soldiers are not yet ready to fire at Russian soldiers. Further escalation of unlawful actions of Russian troops in Crimea may change this situation drastically.
The mothers of our soldiers will never forgive us if the blood of their sons is spilled.
Mister President! Stop this aggression! Withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, and immediately return them to their permanent dislocation. All standing questions still can and must be resolved through political and diplomatic channels.
