According to Information Resistance operational data, last night, the Crimean gangs (so-called “self-defense”) and Russian militaries blockaded training detachment N191 of the Ukrainian Navy (Sevastopol), using an armored personnel carrier.

The unit was surrounded by the Russian military. According to the statements of their commanders, the purpose of the blockade is to “defend the Ukrainian unit” (from whom – they couldn’t tell), and prevent any armaments from leaving the unit.

By morning, the occupiers said they would let members of the unit in and out, through the checkpoint, but only after a thorough search. For some reason, a particular emphasis during the search was placed on “flash drives” (USB data carriers).

As a reminder – earlier, the Ukrainian military command reported that agreements were reached with the Russian command, according to which the occupiers would not be blockading Ukrainian military units until March 21.

According to Information Resistance operational data, over the past twenty-four hours, two anti-aircraft missile and gun batteries PANTSIR-S1 were transported to Crimea from Russia, across the Kerch strait.

PANTSIR-S1 (NATO reporting name “SA-22 Greyhound”) is the latest Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun system (put into operation in autumn 2012). Russia considers it a fourth-generation anti-aircraft artillery system. It is considered a final-tier system in a multi-tier air defense network used for important units and forces. It is intended to combat a wide range of modern light-armor aerial and ground targets (including winged missiles, unmanned aircraft, and surface-to-air guided missiles).

Considering Russia’s earlier deployment of air defense systems to Crimea (including S-300 anti-aircraft missiles), it is obvious that the occupiers are creating a multi-tier air defense system on the peninsula.

According to Information Resistance operational data, local gangs (so-called “self-defense”) in the Krugla (Omega) Bay, Sevastopol, started looting the Sevastopol Aviation Facility, State Enterprise of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

SAF is a specialized aircraft repair facility with a focus on capital repair, re-equipment and modernization of various type helicopters (MI-2, MI-8, MI-17, KA-29, KA-32), as well as communication and navigation equipment.

At this time, aircraft spare parts and equipment are being taken out of the facility.

Meanwhile, units of Russian military are accumulating around the Ukrainian Navy Headquarters. At this time, power supply to the H.Q. has been cut off.

14:57

According to Information Resistance operational data, Aksyonov’s gangs (so-called “self-defense”) have gained virtually complete control of the Ukrainian battalion in Bakhchisaray.

The collaborators are acting with support of the Russian militaries.

The battalion officers are only controlling the unit’s headquarters. The “self-defense” continues attempts to convince them to betray the Oath of Allegiance to the Ukrainian People.

According to our preliminary data, about 60 servicemen of the battalion (mainly contractor soldiers) committed treason by agreeing to collaborate with the occupiers. As the unit’s command told us, these people “swore allegiance to Russia” (we don’t know whether this means an oath to the illegitimate Crimean authorities, or an actual oath to the Russian Federation).

However, the Russians are making it clear that the “Crimean army” only welcomes Ukrainian officers. Contractor traitors are not very valuable assets for them.

15:58

According to Information Resistance operational data, a unit of Russian military approached Air Defense unit 55 in Yevpatoriya, and is taking positions around it.

Envoys came to talk to the unit’s commander – [Yuriy] Zherebtsov, assistant of Aksyonov, and a man in a military uniform without insignia, who introduced himself as “Major Seryozha” [diminutive for Serhiy] and claimed to be “an assault specialist”.

The envoys presented the Ukrainian military with another ultimatum, demanding that they lay down their weapons.

Information Resistance operational data:

A military unit in Simferopol is being stormed right now. The unit under attack is the photogrammetric center of the Central Military Topography and Navigation Department with the Chief Directorate of Operational Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian snipers are working from the windows of a nearby building. According to our data, one person has been injured as of this time.

UPDATE: (17:00) We received confirmation of one person being wounded. Ambulances are not allowed into the unit’s territory. We are currently looking into the source of shooting – whether the shot was fired by a sniper, or the assault party.

UPDATE: (17:27) The shot was fired by a member of the gang (“Crimean self-defense”).

Russian militaries are threatening to press criminal charges against Ukrainian servicemen of the naval aviation brigade of the Ukrainian Navy located in Novofedorovka village, Saki rayon [district].

This unit has been “guarded” by the “Vostok” battalion for over a week now. About 150 men are guarding the entrances to the brigade, and some 600 men are staying in the “Poltava” therapeutic facility nearby. The Chechens [who account for the majority of the “Vostok” battalion] are setting up block posts, but not presenting any specific demands.

On March 17, a delegation of Russian pilots arrived at the brigade for negotiations. Offers were made [to the Ukrainian officers] to join the side of the “defenders of Crimea.” The envoys requested a list of servicemen who would like to subject themselves to the Russian jurisdiction. Each person on the list would also have to make a contribution of UAH 200 [USD 20] as a fee for being issued a Russian passport – since the “package offer” included Russian citizenship.

The brigade’s officers rejected all offers made by the Russian envoys.

The Russians warned that they would come back a few days later, to collect the brigade’s equipment. If the equipment would be dismantled or torn down, the Russian military prosecutor’s office would start criminal proceedings [against the Ukrainian servicemen]. (Several pieces of equipment are currently kept at the unit. It had reached the end of its service life and had not been moved to mainland Ukraine.)

The officers’ morale is high. They have no intention of leaving their place of service.

Report by Information Resistance

17:56

Our sources reported that besides a wounded man, another Ukrainian serviceman has died after the Russians stormed the military unit in Simferopol. Three separate sources have confirmed this information. We are trying to find out the details.

Concerning the situation in Simferopol.

One Ukrainian serviceman dead (ensign K. – full name not disclosed for ethical reasons), two heavily wounded. The rest of the servicemen in the unit are under arrest.

The assault was carried out by Russian special forces, supported by gang members (so-called “self-defense.”) The killing shot was fired from the side of “self-defense.”

The reports currently spread by the Crimean media (referencing the Crimean Ministry of Internal Affairs) are saying exactly the opposite. According to them, “one self-defense member was killed and two wounded as a result of street shooting in Simferopol. Shots were fired on self-defense members from a sniper rifle, from a construction site opposite the Ukrainian military unit.”

We have no information on the losses or wounded on the bandits’ side.

Following the murder of the Ukrainian serviceman in Simferopol, a wave of violence and provocations is spreading through the city, at the hands of Russian occupiers and their henchmen from the so-called “self-defense.”

At this time, at 11 and 11A Kubanska street, “self-defense” members, supported by the Russian militaries, are clearing out the residences of Ukrainian servicemen and veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (both buildings are so-called residences of the officer corps of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine).

Bandits are breaking down doors, storming into apartments and threaten the life and health of family members of the Ukrainian militaries, demanding that they immediately leave their homes.

20:44

After an initial assault on the residences of military servicemen on 11 and 11A Kubanska Street, Simferopol, the so-called “self-defense” gangs fell back, and currently limit themselves to blockading these buildings.

Meanwhile, blockades of bases and units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being lifted throughout Crimea (with rare exceptions).

These events took place after the occupiers murdered a Ukrainian military serviceman and heavily wounded two more, following which the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine authorized the use of weapons by the Ukrainian military in Crimea.

20:58

A couple of words about the murder of the Ukrainian serviceman in Simferopol.

There is a reason as to why the Crimean media (and now the Russian propaganda mouthpieces) are currently spreading the information that a representative of the “self-defense” was also allegedly killed during the assault on the Ukrainian military base in Simferopol.

We are confident that this bloody provocation (and in fact – an act of war) by the Russians was arranged to intimidate the Ukrainian military. Now, the Russian side will play out the “third party shots” card. The Russian FSB [Federal Security Service] advisers of Yanukovych tried to crank up the similar scenario during the events on Maidan.
