I do not know how to react…

Screen Shot 2014-05-17 at 3.27.45 PMMy husband accidentally ran into his old friend today in Moscow, with whom he had studied at the military academy and has not seen since. During their conversation, as it usually happens in such situations, “all at once,” the friend asked my husband “if he hadn’t divorced from his Banderite-wife.” After hearing that he hadn’t, his classmate was very surprised and with full seriousness advised him to do so as soon as possible because “these Khokholo-fascists can kill you in your sleep, ” and “how do you not fear that she’ll poison you?” My husband just laughs at such “tips,” but for me it’s no laughing matter anymore.

The Kremlin has achieved full success in its information war against its own people–the mental gap between Ukrainians and Russians has come to a very primary, “grassroots,” level. All my relatives and friends in Kyiv have relatives who are either Russian or are living in Russia, and even more frequently, both of these options simultaneously. And this division into “what’s ours–what’s theirs” that has happened now in Russia has virtually affected almost every Ukrainian family. Russians don’t feel it that way and don’t understand it yet. And I am no longer sure if they will ever understand it.

According to operational data from Information Resistance, today around 5:00 am EEST, the airfield in Kramatorsk was shot at by terrorists.

Terrorists shot from an automatic grenade launcher mounted on a car.

AGS-30

AGS-30

In particular, the grenade launcher was identified as the AGS-30 (6G25) manufactured in Russia. Ukrainian special forces don’t have this type of armament at their disposal (Ukrainian Armed Forces are armed with a similar automated grenade launcher AGS-17).

After the airfield shootout, the terrorists fired several shots in the direction of the city.

DMITRY TYMCHUK: Concerning the activity of Russian journalists

Dmitry Tymchuk, Coordinator, Information Resistance.
05.16.2014
Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine.

information_resistance_logo_engThe majority of Russian journalists (the Kremlin propagandists to be exact), who are actually complicit in the crimes of pro-Russian terrorists in Donbas, have crossed all possible boundaries of common sense in their anti-Ukrainian activity.

We’ve long been seeing from them blatant propaganda and the creation of a positive image of terrorism; anti-Ukrainian propaganda aimed at undermining the image of Ukrainian power structures, Ukrainian authorities, and the Ukrainian state as a whole; [their] direct participation in the interrogations of Ukrainian special forces (hence their participation in kidnappings); direct participation in provocations against Ukrainian servicemen; carrying out intelligence activities for the benefit of gangs and Russian intelligence services.

Such conduct by people hiding behind their journalist “badge” is unacceptable.

In this regard, during consulations with state agencies on the matter, Information Resistance raised the issue of the termination of such criminal activity on the part of the majority of Russian media representatives.

We have proposed:

1. To declare Russian journalists engaged in such activity personae non gratae and deport them from the country. (The mechanism is currently under discussion–as much as if, for example, in the case of their participation in interrogations or filming military facilities without permission, there are no problems in providing evidence of criminal activity, in cases of carrying out anti-Ukrainian propaganda it raises legal nuances);

2. To delay representatives of Russian media who are accredited by organizations that are legally identified as terrorist–“Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Luhansk People’s Republic,” as well as terrorist formations that are part of these organizations. To incriminate them for participation in terrorist activities.

3. To organize a unified accreditation for the operation of all journalists who work in the zone of the anti-terrorist operation, at the ATO Headquarters. A profile group at the ATO headquarters must ensure the safety and effectiveness of work by the media representatives. (Currently, state agencies are developing appropriate mechanisms).

We’d like to inform you that we received full understanding from the state agencies. Relevant work is already underway. On our side, we voiced our full readiness to help out and participate in initiatives aimed at protection of the information space of Ukraine as a public initiative.

DMITRY TYMCHUK: On the liquidation of state-owned Feodosiya and Yevpatoria Sea Trade Ports

By Dmitry Tymchuk, Coordinator, Information Resistance.

Feodosiya Sea Trade Port

Feodosiya Sea Trade Port

Yesterday, the First Deputy Head of the illegitimate Council of Ministers in Crimea, Rustam Temirgaliyev, announced that the Crimean ports at Feodosiya and Yevpatoria would cease to exist. His justification: due to their cost effectiveness.

According to the group Information Resistance, the closure of these ports is due primarily to the fact that after the annexation of Crimea, the state-owned “Feodosiya Sea Trade Port” and “Yevpatoria Sea Trade Port,” which were classified as international and were some of the more budget-creating enterprises in their regions, stopped the transshipment of petroleum products, rolled metal, clay, sand, and consumer goods. Most of these loads came from Turkey.

At present, within the framework of the Feodosia sea trading port, only one sea ferry operates, the “Poseidon Express,” which delivers containers of food and industrial products from the Russian port of “Novorossiysk” to the [Crimean] peninsula.

Due to the absence of trade turnover, port employees are currently being paid from funds saved in 2013, which will last a maximum of one month.

Over 1,000 people will be left without work due to closure of the ports. The shutdown of ports will seriously affect the revenues to local budgets.
