Operational data from Information Resistance:

In the past 24 hours, there were more than 40 attacks by Russian-terrorist forces on the positions of ATO forces.

The most intense situation remains in the directions of Debaltseve, Donetsk and Luhansk – 15, 12 and 8 shellings each, respectively.

In particular, our checkpoints and strongholds in the area of Debaltseve have undergone attacks by insurgents 6 times,  fire strikes were deposited 4 times over Trokhizbenka, and the positions of ATO forces near the settlements of Avdiivka, Nikishyne, Crimea were fired on 3 times.

Since the announcement of a temporary ceasefire, Russian troops and illegal armed groups violated the agreement more than 2,500 times.

NSDC [National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine]: “No one is talking about an open attack by insurgents. It is obvious that there are not enough troops on the territory of Ukraine for the large-scale attack. According to the art of war, the attacker must be four or five times stronger than those who defend themselves. The terrorists don’t have this; the Ukrainian military have the  advantage of force.”

To argue with the NSDC is impossible (besides, the “gold standard” ratio between the defending and attacking forces at the tactical level is still 1 to 3, at the strategic level – 1 to 2, and even less is allowable). So let’s not argue. Let’s just look at the NSDC map from September 5th and November 6th. And think about this.

I understand the reluctance of government agencies to inflate panic. This is an absolutely correct approach. But it’s still worth a sober assessment of the situation and making appropriate conclusions – hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

Dmitry Tymchuk: Military Updates, 11/7

Operational data from Information Resistance:

During the past 24 hours of fighting in Donbas, 49 attacks by Russian-terrorist troops were recorded on the positions of Ukrainian troops.

The greatest enemy activity was observed in the following directions:
• Debaltseve (15 attacks);
• Donetsk (12 attacks);
• Pervomaisk (10 attacks);
• Luhansk (7 attacks).

[The recently] formed strike tactical groups of Russian-terrorist forces are [currently] concentrated in the areas of operational assignment and are ready for action. Reserves and a second echelon are currently being strengthened. Material and technical means are being stockpiled. Key reconnaissance missions have been completed (positions, checkpoints, base camps of Ukrainian troops) for the artillery of Russian-terrorist forces, additional exploration and firing data specifications are currently underway.

A convoy of armored vehicles passed through the checkpoint at “Izvaryne,” from the territory of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.

Near the settlement of Shchastya (Luhansk region, Ukraine), a battalion tactical group of the Russian Federation Armed Forces arrived. Earlier, a company tactical group of Russian paratroopers was observed here.

Meanwhile, Russian Federation Armed Forces continue to concentrate in the [shared] border areas with Ukraine. Arrival and unloading of two echelons that carried military equipment and personnel (up to 500 people) has been recorded at the railway station of Kamensk-Shakhtinskii (Rostov region, Russia).

In Donetsk, Snizhne, and Makiivka, the rumors about the imminent offensive by the Russian-terrorist forces are actively being spread among the insurgents. In the Petrovskyi district of Donetsk, insurgents move heavy weapons up to the frontline. They also use civilian vehicles taken from the population and local businesses to transport the troops and munitions.

In addition to heavy shelling of the positions of Ukrainian troops near the settlements of Avdiivka and Pisky, the enemy attempted to push back units of the ATO forces from Krasnohorivka and Mariinka. Their attempt failed.

In the vicinity of Nikishyne-Chornukhyne, the terrorist attacks continue, as do their armed clashes with the ATO forces. Terrorists seek to narrow their Debaltseve foothold and to get closer to Debaltseve. The leadership of “‘Ghost’s’ Mechanized Brigade” gang has announced preparations for the “encirclement of Debaltseve” (possibly the spreading of deliberate misinformation).

At the same time, [our sources observed] the movement of armored vehicles by insurgents towards the boundary near Pervomaisk, as well as the concentration of arms towards the settlements of Vesela Hora and Trokhizbenka, and also opposite the settlements of Popasna and Hirske.

A “mixed artillery group” has been pulled into the area of Stanytsia Luhanska (to join a mixed division).

In Horlivka, Russian troops completed measures to neutralize the former gang of I. Bezler (“Demon” [who was recently ‘retired’]). Some of the insurgents joined the unified command of the “DNR” [Donetsk People’s Republic] and some of them disappeared.

In the southern areas of the “LNR” [Luhansk People’s Republic], the forced “mobilization” continues. Because of this, an active mass exodus of male citizens seeking to avoid “mobilization” is currently observed on territories under Ukraine’s control.

Eight young women, having been hooked on drugs by force and used for sexual slavery, were freed from the captivity of “DNR” [Donetsk People’s Republic] terrorists near Debaltseve, Ukraine.

Now the liberated women are undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Kharkiv, according to Informator.lg.ua.

Even the fact that one girl was not of legal adulthood age did not stop the terrorists.  One of the girls freed was only 16 years old.

According to one of the doctors, each of the girls, in addition to a “standard” set of sexually transmitted diseases and trauma, revealed severe addiction.

“One of the girls confessed that every one of them had been raped by up to 30 men every day,” said the doctor.

As was mentioned before, terrorists kidnapped two girls in one of the houses of Luhansk. They were kept in one of the captured buildings of East Ukraine Volodymyr Dahl National University, being exposed to physical and sexual abuse.

Earlier it was reported that in Luhansk terrorists kidnapped two girls out of a house. They were held in one of the captured buildings of the East Ukraine Volodymyr Dahl National University, and were subjected to physical and sexual abuse.

“Cold and indifference envelop us.” ATO volunteer about life in a field camp. PHOTOS

“Are you alive?”
“Did you get hit?”
After my previous letter, almost all of the messages from my friends contained questions like that. I can announce with all certainty that I am alive, and in all probability, fully legitimate, because after that last letter, none of the people with stars on their shoulders addressed me, and neither did anyone from outside the army hierarchy. The only new thing that came to our camp is the cold. Everything else remains unchanged.

As before, we do guard detail, hold cordons, go on duty, stoke the stove in the officers’ tent, take out the rubbish… too bad that we have virtually no time left to fix the equipment, which, in theory, we are supposed to use to go to the ATO zone. Weather conditions are making this [the repairs] more difficult, too. Maybe wasting time is the only activity they could assign us all.

tents1

At times, we feel like we are a hobby club that went hiking and camping, but then something went wrong, and now we are isolated from civilization and left to our own devices. The only thing we are required to do to avoid getting stuck at this level forever is to obey the orders of the big little people with stars on their shoulders, and create comfortable living conditions for them. It is like a simple game. Playing soldiers.

tents2

Our nights turned freezing, but the camp leadership remains deaf even to requests as simple as a second stove. We get no winter footwear, probably because frosts have not been included in this year’s plans. Almost all troubles with the army kitchen have been solved, as our relatives took it upon ourselves to feed us, and send us parcels at enviably regular intervals. Plus, since some of us had to serve in the kitchen, the wish to eat the army food served here has disappeared. After a day of army activities we sleep well, but not for long. The sweetness of sleep tends to evaporate when you can feel the steam of your own breath, and when your hands turn to ice, even as you keep them in the pockets of your pea jacket (it is best to keep it on for the night). This is because it gets warmer during the day here, even with wind and regular rain, but at night, all that water on the tents starts to freeze, and a single stove is not enough to combat this (and we are not worthy of a second one). The luckier ones have sleeping bags, but rest assured that even in those, they keep all their clothes on. Unfortunately, only half [of us] have sleeping bags; they are not covered by regulations.

tents3

Most of us have not been paid even once, but we are all still alive and prepared to serve our country. Two months without allowance is hardly a problem for a true patriot, right?

Two weeks before October 26, 2014, they collected our information so we could vote for the new parliament. About 30 percent of us, including me, were not able to participate in the elections; we were told that “our information did not match the records, or was not received from the regional election commissions at our [place of] residence.” It is ironic that a year ago, and before that, I could exercise my constitutional right to vote, without any problems, even if I was abroad, but now, serving my country [in the army], where everything must be clear and organized, I was not able to [vote].

One of the most important things you gain in the army, in addition to dandruff and constant colds, is friendship. Sometimes I am surprised at how sympathetic and understanding we have become. This readiness to help is very impressive; it inspires and nourishes us! We have changed here. Maybe this is the community spirit that I had once dreamed of finding among my compatriots.

As before, we keep filing reports asking to be transferred to the ATO zone; as before, we wait for the time when we can be of use to our country, when they send us somewhere from there – either to the front or anywhere else where we might be of some use.

tents4

In the evenings, after the daily army absurdity, pointlessness, and brutishness, the cold comes, enveloping and freezing over each tent. Together, this freezing cold and freezing indifference wrap around our encampment so strongly that you often see doom and gloom in the eyes of people around you. Some kind of decisive despair sinks into all of us late at night… But in that pleasant moment when the sun shines on our encampment again, this shroud lifts, and it is almost as if everything is as it should be.

tents5

But one day, this shroud might not lift again, and a chronic freeze will set in, freezing up everything and everyone… I really wish that this does not happen, because as the abomination that permeates the army perishes, it might take down with it not only the thing that cultivated the abomination, but also the very thing, the very reason for which we are here. Let God grant us the wisdom and courage not to let this happen.

But today, my friends I ask you one thing: help each other, because there are those whom we can no longer help…

Millet! Vetan! Kirim! [“Motherland! Crimea” – Crimean Tatar]

As Evil conquered,
Good had hope,
Deep at the bottom of its heart,
That in the end, Evil is ignorant,
That you need only make it through the night,
And that the fight was not for nothing,
Because even Evil gets tired…
While Evil’s driving force
Is the very existence of Good.
