Operational data from Information Resistance:

The most difficult situation in the zone of conflict in Donbas remains in the Debaltseve stronghold. Russian-terrorist troops continue to transfer reinforcements to the area of YenakiieveVuhlehirsk for their tactical group, currently engaged in heavy combat in Vuhlehirsk and south of it. The passage of supply convoys through Yenakiieve into this area was observed (up to 15 covered cargo trucks, accompanied by an armored group from three BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles [IFVs]. Also, the transfer of another battery of enemy armored vehicles (8 tanks and 14 units of IFVs and armored personnel carriers [APCs]) into the area was observed through Krasnyi Luch.

An artillery group (25 units of cannon artillery and 8 units of MLRS) provides support for the terrorist tactical group operating in Vuhlehirsk. In addition, insurgent artillery units that operate from the suburbs of Makiivka and Yenakiieve provide their support [to the combat team in Vuhlehirsk].

On the left flank, an increase in activity of terrorist forces has also been witnessed near Chornukhyne and Novohryhorivka. A tactical group of Russian-terrorist troops that includes the reinforced units that took part in fighting near Troitske and Sanzharivka (up to 350 people, 12 tanks and about 25 AFVs – mainly BMP-2 and BTR-80) operates in this area. This task force operates on a relatively narrow stretch along the Alchevsk-Debaltseve highway in an attempt to inflict a concentrated blow to the positions of Ukrainian troops. The actions of the tactical force are supported by artillery from positions southwest of the settlement of Bryanka, who are also attempting to conduct fire control of the M03 – E40 highway.

A build-up of Russian-terrorist troops is [currently] observed on another stretch of the stronghold – in the vicinity of Faschivka and Nikishyne. An enemy formation that is mainly staffed with so-called “Cossacks” (up to 600 people, several mortar batteries and up to 15 AFVs) operates in this area. The formation is spread out on both sides of the highway in the direction of Krasnyi Luch; its small units of 15-20 people “represent” a frontal assault on the bridgehead.

Insurgents from the so-called “Cossack” formations, who previously suffered serious losses on the Debaltseve bridgehead, expressed their extreme dissatisfaction with the Russian command. In particular, the terrorists accuse the Russian officers in charge, of the “operation” of driving insurgent units to storm the positions of Ukrainian troops, without the adequate support of artillery and armored vehicles, “to the slaughter.” As a result, many terrorist units were destroyed (for example, of the 80 insurgents who were part of the “Cossacks” unit from Antratsyt which participated in the assault, 21 returned to their original positions).

Open Letter to the Almighty God of Facebook. #FreeSavchenko

Translated by Vyacheslav Іlchenko by request of Anna-Lisa Ryaboshapka and edited by Voices of Ukraine

Dear Sir, Mark Zuckerberg. Dear Sirs of Administration. Dear Board of Directors or the organizational department, or whatever this hellish thing is that we know under the name of Facebook.

I do not know, how best to address you, so will write you as if to a God Almighty.

You surely don’t know that my country is at war. It has been started by our neighbouring country, and it’s like things conducted by that Sukarno guy from Malaysia back in 1966. He was an Indonesian lifelong (I mean it, no joke) president and proclaimed his neighboring country as a fake, where Indonesians need protection. Not Malaysians.
Confused yet?

So, our neighbouring lifelong president, nicknamed “dickhead,” fired up a hybrid war in my country. In fact, it’s not hybrid, but that’s not important. A major part of this hybrid war or whatever it is called, is waged in the form of information warfare, if I may say so.
Unfortunately, one of these information battlegrounds is Facebook.

My countrymen and fellow citizens are being trolled, banned and blocked for writing the truth and for writing about their wishes to not be under “the order” of a neighbouring wannabe empire.

This has taken on an enormous scale.

But even bigger is the scale of lies against my country, proclaimed by either paid or just open scoundrels.

So why am I writing to you – like to God himself?

Because I ask you to give the Ukrainian segment of Facebook a moderator, or whatever person is in the position in charge of constantly blocking us, who has no connections to Kremlin ideology.

It would be great to have the Ukrainian segment not being overseen from Moscow.
Now, unfortunately, everything that’s happening feels exactly like that.
Help us.

It’s just freedom of speech. We do not expect any more.

Thank you for your time.

We are not Charlie Hebdo. We are Ukraine. ‪#‎weareUkraine‬

NADIYA SAVCHENKO DAY OF ACTION! #FreeSavchenko

NADIYA SAVCHENKO DAY OF ACTION
– JAN 31 thru FEB 1, 2015 –

In the hopes of continuing to put pressure onto key people who may be able to influence the release of Ukrainian MP/pilot Nadiya Savchenko as she enters her 50th day of hunger strike tomorrow (Feb. 1st), we have teamed up with other individuals globally to form a few Nadiya Savchenko Action Days. The action requested and info needed will all be provided in one post. Today, please help to “write a letter” to a very key figure, the Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (COE). The Committee of Ministers, with the Parliamentary Assembly, is the guardian of the Council’s fundamental values and monitors member compliance.
(It would be good to write to your own foreign affairs minister as well). The reason is explained in the sample example letter below. You can copy this one and use it as is, or as a template you modify. Please do so in the next 24 hours and send it by email to the addresses at the bottom (2). You can also tweet a jpg of it to the Chair if you know how to do that and prefer to use Twitter (account address at bottom). If you are French please write in French as the Chair speaks French. That’s it, it’s that simple and easy. But please stop, take 4 min and do it now! THANK YOU!

Mr. Didier Reynders, Chairperson of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (COE)

Dear Mr. Didier Reynders:

I ask that you consider a matter, whose inattention will have serious repercussions on public confidence in the Assembly’s willingness to stand for its principles.

The Parliamentary Assembly called on the Russian authorities to release Nadiya Savchenko within 24 hours and to ensure her return to Ukraine or hand her over to a third country (Resolution 2034). I urge the Committee of Ministers and you personally as its Chair to take action to ensure the release of Ms Savchenko, a Ukrainian fighter pilot who was captured on Ukrainian soil and subsequently incarcerated in a Russian prison and who has parliamentary immunity as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly. Mr. Pieter Omtzigt has twice tabled questions about the case of Ms Savchenko (8 October 2014, No. 665 to the Committee of Ministers, Doc.13625; and again on 29 January 2015, No. 678, Doc.13701).

What action has the Committee of Ministers taken in the last four months on the case of Ms Savchenko, and in particular vis-à-vis the Russian authorities, in order to pursue her release? What are the committee’s plans today to actively pursue her release?

Ms Savchenko has been on hunger strike for 48 days and her health is deteriorating rapidly.

In addition to the possible death of Ms. Savchenko, the consequences of inaction include serious damage to the reputation of the Parliamentary Assembly, placing in doubt its commitment to defend the rights it purports to uphold.

Sincerely and with great urgency,

(your name here)

Nadiya Savchenko requested a copy of the opening of a new case against her #FreeSavchenko

By Radio Svoboda

Ukrainian pilot, MP Nadiya Savchenko requested that prison management provide her with a copy of the decision to institute a new criminal case against her. According to the statement, which was made public by Savchenko’s lawyer Mark Feygin, his client was acquainted with the resolution, but a copy is needed to protect her.

“I filled out in the receipt that I had been notified (about the opening of new proceedings – Ed.), and wrote a statement addressed to the governor of SIZO-6 [detention center] T. V. Kirillov, to withdraw money from my account, I have a copy” – it states in Nadiya Savchenko’s statement. But, in her words, she never received the copies.

“Nadia’s statement about the new criminal case”

The second criminal case, opened against Nadiya Savchenko earlier this month, relates to her alleged illegal border crossing, though the pilot’s own lawyers have repeatedly stated that she was kidnapped from Ukraine and taken into Russia.

In addition, in Russia Nadiya Savchenko was accused of involvement in the death of Russian journalists. The pilot herself rejects all charges against her.

During the January 26 session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Nadiya Savchenko received diplomatic immunity as a deputy of Ukraine – a member of PACE. But Russia has refused to dismiss Savchenko from its Moscow jail. Savchenko continues her hunger strike started in mid-December 2014 [Ed: today marks the 49th day of her hunger strike protest].
