Called my college buddy in Horlivka. He says that their city is a “f*cking Somalia” and that he’s getting his stuff ready to leave for Kyiv. Masked people with automatic machine guns pat people down at all checkpoints.
Local alcoholics and ex-cons have finally come to power. Class war. His acquaintance worked at the firm with loaders. Alcoholics. She kicked them out. A long time ago. Yesterday, these loaders stopped her at a checkpoint: they took her money and valuables, kicked her in the teeth, and knocked a couple of them out.
Recently, they found and took a pellet gun from his friend’s car (bought with a permit). Alcoterrorists [alcoholic terorrists] are not satisfied with the permit of “the Ukrainian state.” They gave away his pellet gun to a student high on something, right in front of him. My friend’s neighbor had his money taken away straight by the bank branch: a car with cop plates drove over, four guys with automatic machine guns came out, and took a sizeable amount “for the Donetsk Republic.” There are no cops. Taverns and shops are still open. All cars in showrooms are missing. Russian spring.
