Maidan As It Stands: Feb. 21, 0:00 to 09:00

Yesterday, as the bloodiest day of clashes between thousands of demonstrators and heavily-armed riot police in the heart of Kyiv’s Maidan drew to a close with protesters unbowed, President Viktor Yanukovych told European foreign ministers that he would be open to early elections if that would restore peace. Last night the EU finally decided to impose sanctions against persons responsible for the violence in Ukraine.

An agreement intended to help resolve the crisis in Ukraine is expected to be initialed at the Ukrainian presidential administration headquarters at noon today, the presidential press service reported.

The official death toll now sits at 77, with hundreds wounded, some figures say over a thousand.

My dad called. People from Poltava have blocked the highway from Kharkiv–Kyiv not to let “titushkas” come to Kyiv. I was listening to him with tears in my eyes. People have established 4 cordons at the highway, Berkut and MIA personnel have fully taken the side of the people. Berkut is standing at the highway and are on duty together with the citizens of Poltava. They’ll be there all night long. There is hope! We are winning!

P.S. And I have thought what a family we have: the father blocks the highway, the son brings tires to the barricades

The state is pretty much like this:
“To sob effusively. To shed floods of tears. To sob out the food. To sob out the sleep. To sob near ports and portals. To open taps and sluices of sob. To soak a soul and shirt with tears. To drown roads and paths. To save oneself from swimming in one’s own sobing. To sob at the courses of anthropology. To sob at family celebrations. To sob crossing Africa. To sob as a crocodile or a bittern… if it’s true that they don’t stop sobbing. To sob about everything, but beautifully. To let out tears through nose and knees, through mouth and navel. To sob from love, depression and joy. To sob extempore and by rote. To sob suffering from loss of sleep. To sob all day long!” (Oliverio Girondo).

Everything that seemed to be important previously recedes to shadows against the background of terrible, unconceivable distress. The victims’ faces are are whirling in the black-and-white kaleidscope, you can feel their invisible presence and the trembling of their last thoughts. We will never be the same again. This experience – to touch Evil – will accompany us always and everywhere.

#‎EuroMaidan Water cannons 2.0: now armoured!
A camera crew of TSN recorded that special forces have been reinforcing two water cannons in the yard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at Bohomoltsia Street in Kyiv.

“A bus with captured special forces members (including snipers) was blocked at Bohdan Khmelnytskiy Street, when the opposition tried to take them out of Maidan secretly” – this is lies. About this scene:

Sviatoslav Tsegolko
The participation of Praviy Sector has decided everything. However hard MPs have been trying to pursuade protesters to let the bus with cadets go. They came headlong, pressed everybody back from the bus, including MPs. Most of them haven’t just known the MPs by sight.
– I am the MP, – Pashynskiy yelled
– I don’t fu… care, – replied a guy in an armour vest and helmet.
They don’t have any idols apart from Yarosh [leader of Praviy Sector].
A bus driver appeared to be outside the live chain of Sector.
– Let the driver in, – I asked.
– We’ll let when the order comes.
I had a feeling then that they would extract those boys out of the bus and lynch them.
Suddenly six men appeared. Yarosh and five guards. He took a microphone and said that these were just innocent boys who should be let free.
Then there was a corridor.
Two-kilometers walk to Volodymyrskyy Church.
A victory of common sense over useless death.

Information from People’s Self-defense roadblock at Bazhana Street in Pozniaky district.
There are no “titushkas,” information that “titushkas” are looting TC  “Piramida” hasn’t been confirmed.
There were enough locals who gathered and self-organized. People have made a roadblock and started to check trucks, very politely. From 20–21 of Frebruary, around 00:00 of the night, traffic policemen (!!!) have joined people saying  “Police are with the people.”

3 traffic policemen in total, at least one of them – with a Kalashnikov. This gave an opportunity to arrange the Peoples’ Self-Defense in shifts, a part of the citizens will come in the morning.
It took much time to explain to everybody that the traffic policemen should not be touched. A traffic jam formed at the road, since traffic police set about to check transport.
The roadpost – across the trading center “Piramida.” The closest metro station – Pozniaky.

Here’s what I received:
“Good evening! Please, repost if you have the possibility to inform Self-Defense in other oblasts NOT TO LET GO “titushkas” somewhere “in the fields. “Titushkas,” who were stopped today in Cherkassy oblast and let go on foot, are now now wandering in the villages along the highway, looting the shops, booths, etc. My parents are living in one of these villages and saw everything with their own eyes, there’s nobody they can ask for a help! Mainly pensioners live in villages, they cannot resist!!!!! Please, inform everybody who you can! Thank you!”

I heard yesterday that titushky [hired thugs] were gathering in my native Rusanivka district, and so I decided to go and watch. I saw a crowd of people with sticks from afar, locked the car doors, slowly drove over, looking closer and see retirees with shovels, grannies with tea and stuffed buns, people with dogs… – “Where are titushky?” I ask an older man of 60-65 years of age… – “Your titushky are weaklings to fight, ” says the old man, – “they did not last even two minutes… although they do run fast, we cannot catch up with them, our young guys hunt them in the bushes and beat them up… we blocked all the bridges, so the assholes will not be able to escape…” I saw one of the remaining bastards at the waterfront by the Slavutych hotel – an Ork scared to death was trying to cross the channel on ice, but when he stumbled on the absence of ice three meters away from the shore, he went into the water and tried to swim away… he owes his useless life to firefighters (no idea where they came from), who used a firehose to drag him out of the water, and then put a lot of effort into keeping him alive on the riverbank.. people said that he tried to shoot someone… I don’t know what will happen to the young guests of the capital (I could care less about them), but their sphincters will involuntary relax at the very thought of their excursion to my district for a very long time. Rusanivka, I love you!

I think the turning point. At approximately 7:00 to Michael’s got 5 buses with Lviv and Frankivsk numbers. A few dozen, according to witnesses, their direction of travel of Zhitomir. All of them fighters. In helmets with shields in homemade elbow, occasionally in flak jackets. Most impressed by the father and son from the city, who asked to be photographed together.

– Guys, you have weapons?
– Our weapon is our life. When will this bitch escape to Moscow?
My head hurt: you are photographing hose who may not be here tomorrow.
Bitch, flee!
