Dear Compatriots!

I address you as responsible citizens of our country who are well aware of the threats to Ukrainian society and state caused by internal conflicts, discord, and confrontation.

Some opposition leaders have made a declaration that they are not involved in mass actions that took place on January 19 at Hrushevskoho Street and urged the protesters to stop violent confrontation with law enforcement officers.

I address Kyiv residents and other participants of mass meetings. Please do not listen to those who call for violence, who seek to provoke a split between state and society and want to throw the Ukrainian people into the crucible of riots.

I have treated with understanding your participation in mass actions, expressed willingness to listen to your position and find solutions to existing conflicts together, but now, when the peaceful actions transform into mass disorder, accompanied by riots, arsons, and violence, I believe that such situation poses a threat not only to the Kyiv residents but also to the whole Ukraine.

I am certain that you understand that we should work together to keep our state safe, to increase its power, prestige and possibilities.

I confirm that I will spare no effort to support public order and protect the rights of civilians; I will use all legal means to ensure the peace and security of all our countrymen.

I am certain that you listen to me and will support my efforts to stop the conflict which has been provoked by those who are ready in their fight for power to pay the high price of human bloodshed.

Only the peaceful way, hard work, solidarity of the people, and our commitment to build in Ukraine high standards of people’s life will lead us to success. A war, destruction, and violence ruin Ukraine.

I call for dialogue and compromise, for peace in our own land. I believe in the people of Ukraine. I am confident in the wisdom of our people. I am ready to serve the country and the people with good faith and fidelity as long as I have enough strength and the people trust me.
