Operational data from Information Resistance:

Throughout the day about 50 attacks by Russian-terrorist troops onto the positions of Ukrainian troops were recorded in the directions of:

• Luhansk – 16;
• Donetsk – 16;
• Debaltsevoe – 15.

In the district of Donetsk the leadership of the insurgents is actively pursuing the reshaping of their tactical groups. Some of the groups are strengthened, some disbanded – with the transfer of “individual personnel” to that of other gangs, causing conflict among the militants from the disbanded groups. To carry out these organizational and staff measures in the enemy’s main forces that operate in the field, they were previously withdrawn from the line of contact with the Ukrainian troops.

In addition, the rearmament and resupply of “DNR” units due to the “aid” that comes from Russia is being actively carried out. And although the bulk of the activities to enhance the combat capability of units was almost completed about 10-11 days ago, during the last 2-3 days “DNR” formations were given a pretty serious updating in both manpower, and equipment and weapons. In particular, a further increase in the number of militant mortars was recorded.

The Command of the Russian-terrorist forces continues to strengthen its formations in the north and north-west of Luhansk region (Pervomaisk, the districts of Trokhizbenka–Slovianoserbsk, as well as in the zone of Shchastya–Stanytsia Luhansk) by resupplying its units with manpower, weapons and military equipment.

In these areas, the appearance of two new companies of Russian troop tactical and artillery groups was recorded. As part of the composition of these RTGs [companies of tactical groups], in total there are about 35 armored vehicles (including – 10 tanks), in the composition of the artillery group – 22 guns (including 8 MLRS). One group arrived in the area of Shchastya–Stanytsia Luhansk, and the other advanced to the flank position of the Ukrainian troops in the district of Verhulivka.

Russian command again actualizes the question of the “conservation” of armaments and equipment transferred to the militants. In particular, there are some problems with the organization of the repair of damaged military equipment, fighters spend too much time on routine maintenance because of problems with regular resupply and spare parts, and the equipment necessary to specific operational areas. There were at least 5 collection points, grading and repair of damaged pieces of weaponry and military equipment were recorded. Russian specialists perform the very final culling. In this regard, on the orders of the Russian command of the command structures of the “DNR” and “LNR,” the most stringent orders were issued on the need to “carefully use heavy weapons and equipment” in battle.

Dmitry Tymchuk: Military Updates, 11/25

information_resistance_logo_engDmitry Tymchuk, Head of the Center for Military and Political Research, Coordinator of the Information Resistance group
11.25.2014
Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine

Operational data from Information Resistance:

During the past 24 hours, Russian-terrorist troops opened fire about 35 times. The most active fire was led by the enemy in the directions of:
Donetsk – 12 attacks;
• Luhansk -–12 attacks;
• Debaltseve – 7 attacks.

The fire was mostly mortars (12 attacks) and MLRS (9 attacks). Cannon artillery (7 attacks) and small arms were used less actively.

Russian-terrorist troops are preparing for active operations in the cold season, by applying the tactics of using “small groups.” For this purpose, units from the RF Special Forces enter into the structure of the formed strike groups, as well as launching large-scale training by specialists from among the militant groups (training is conducted on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as directly in the combat zone). The necessary reserve supplies of material and technical means are being created, bases and strongholds, with efforts directed to centralize the process. In this regard, the presence in the territory of a number of relevant Donbas “trainers” from the Russian special services, who do not only train militants to conduct the “war in small groups,” but also to control the execution of tasks directly in the combat zone, has been observed.

In the area of Donetsk (districts of Pisky–DAP [Donetsk airport]Avdiivka), as well as in the area and Makiivka, Horlivka an increasing number of artillery units of the Russian-terrorist forces (including rocket launchers) were noted. There is a continuing improvement of the fire control system. In the area of Donetsk there is a marked concentration of enemy artillery at 47-50 artillery vehicles (of these, 10-12 are for MLRS).

The insurgents, using Russian specialists, actively carried out arrangements for system recovery and repair of arms and military equipment in the vicinity of the front line. At the same time, in this respect, the enemy is facing serious difficulties (problems with logistics, lack of a sufficient number of specialists, repairmen, etc.). However, the elements of an appropriate repair infrastructure have been created in the districts of Stakhanov–Alchevsk–Perevalsk– Snizhne–Torez, Donetsk, Makiivka, Luhansk.

Active shootouts continue near Trokhizbenka and Shchastya. Both sides have exchanged artillery strikes and are actively using heavy infantry weapons. North of Luhansk (Kamyanobridskiy district) the movement of armored vehicles for insurgents (up to 7 units) was observed.

In the district of the city of Volnovakha, the activity of militants who are trying to conduct ground reconnaissance of the forward positions of Ukrainian troops using intelligence groups as well as using technical reconnaissance, was recorded.

In the zone of Dokuchajevsk–Novotroitske–Hranitne, shelling and clashes continued between militants and advanced units of Ukrainian troops. In the area of Hranitne, the enemy fired onto the positions of Ukrainian troops from mortars and small arms. Ukrainian troops fired on the positions of cannon artillery recorded in the area northeast of Mykolayivka. Militants’ strafing of the residential area of Dokuchajevsk was recorded.

In coastal areas the struggle continues between the counter-battery fire of Ukrainian troop artillery units and Russian-terrorist forces, in order to gain fire superiority. Also, the counter-battery struggle is near the Debaltseve bridgehead in the zone of Pisky–Avdiivka, as well as Trokhizbenka–Shchastya–Stanytsia Luhansk. Insurgents are trying to carry out some fire damage on Ukrainian troop units not only on the frontline positions, but also in the depths of their combat formations.

In order to conduct additional exploration of targets, and adjustments to firing, the insurgents are actively using technical hardware as a means (including UAVs, especially in the direction of Mariupol, radar equipment and opto-electronic intelligence) and specially-trained teams of ground spotters.

In the area of Mariupol, insurgents are trying to operate using DRGs [sabotage and reconnaissance groups] in the direction of Highway H20 (Mariupol–Donetsk), not only for the purpose of exploration, but also to conduct raids and sabotage. Moreover, it was noted that the aspiration of the insurgent groups is to also attack the positions of Ukrainian troops directly along Highway E58 (Novoazovsk–Odesa). On this site, both sides are actively using heavy infantry weapons (mortars, heavy machine guns), as well as long-range sniper weapons.

The maneuvering capabilities of the Russian-terrorist troops along the “line of contact” from Pavlopil and Chermalyk to Telmanove has been noted. We’re currently clarifying the purpose of this maneuver. At the same time, it is necessary to state that the concentration [of groups] in the district of Telmanove and the northernmost enemy task force is clearly gaining strength – due to the transfer of insurgents from other parts of the “front,” and resupply through “mobilized” locals and Russian troops (the latter – from the at least two motorized infantry brigades of the Southern Military District of Russia).

Roman Donik: The strategic village of Pisky

By Roman Donik, army volunteer
11.22.2014
Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine

[The village of] Pisky, in my subjective opinion and in terms of equivalent pounds of TNT, has not been inferior to the Donetsk airport for a long time now. I think, in terms of the numbers of mines and shells arriving here virtually around the clock, they top it. It’s just that the density is different and there are some specifics. Pisky equals the airport. If control over Pisky is lost, the ability of our guys to effectively defend the airport will be measured by hours.

And the terrorists know about this. This is exactly why kilotons of explosives fall on our guys’ heads.

The airport is almost in complete isolation. Every second there is preparedness and cold.

In Pisky it is warmer. There are abandoned houses, there are basements. And there is the illusion of safety. The sky can fall on your head at any second with a 30-50 kilogram shell filled with explosives.

There are simply no houses with the glass undamaged. Some streets are open to snipers along their lengths.

Of late, the main way of life has been [living] in the basement. After every humanitarian convoy the activity of enemy artillery increased several times over. But for the past few days, it was something unimaginable.

The day before yesterday, it seemed like the separatists had the task of pummelling the village into the ground. The whole sky really was black from explosions. Yesterday there was half a day of quiet and then shelling resumed. They hit Tonenke too. Why the question of returning fire was being debated until 4 in the morning is for me a mystery.

12 hours of intense artillery fire on our positions, and our commanders are deciding whether to allow return fire or not.

And every incoming shell, rocket, mortar, is maybe someone’s death. And they pour on the full package with small intervals for reloading and correction.

There are many things I do not understand in this war. But when our guys are being shelled for about 12 hours, and we are silent, this one can’t comprehend.

OSCE? Not even funny.

Anyway, all of this is talk. –

In Pisky, because of the active basement life, there is a greatly increased need for diesel generators and battery lanterns and lamps. Everything works from generators, heat too; there is no possibility to go out looking for firewood.

There is also a little-known unit in Kharkiv, the joint supply centre for the ATO. They are our subordinates and great friends. They never ask for anything, refuse help, they say – we are not fighting, let’s drive this down to our guys.

They simply deliver everything that the army needs. From food to fuel and motor oil. Under fire and in any weather. But they believe that they simply drive and deliver all the essentials. It’s that simple.

But they also need help sometimes. And they need help now. Rather, not for them as such, but so that they can deliver the supplies to the front better. They need chains, about 500 metres. To weld snow chains onto the wheels of every vehicle.
And lights. Rechargeable.

Dmitry Kapustin: News about our (Border Guard) “hotel”

By Dmitry Kapustin, Border Guard, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Berdyansk.
11.24.2014
Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine

News about our hotel. ))))

Today the interior of our fireplace room has been updated. In addition to the already present treatment of expensive varieties of wood, upholstered furniture was placed, made by special order.

The general background complements the soft lounge music, a silky overflowing from the premium audio system with two speakers.

It’s now a million times more pleasant since the weather changed (and the weather is worsening) to rest and eat near the fireplace. There was also a refuelling for the fireplace. It should be sufficient for 2 days.

The atmosphere in our hunting grounds is calm, at night the fuel ran out in our generator, so the perimeter did not get illuminated. Aircraft of different classes did not bother us.

Water froze in the barrel, and now we’ll drink medically healing melted water, which we recommend also to you.

See our photo album. All the best to you! Your faithful punishers.
(Send a couple of babies, we really like fresh Russian meat 🙂
