Operational data from Information Resistance:

Centralization and systematization of insurgent formations continues, in order to create the so-called “Army of Novorossiya.” As of this time, it has been decided to form 7 mixed (infantry) brigades, 1 artillery brigade, 1 tank brigade, and a number of detached battalions.

The practical implementation of these ambitious plans encounters such problems as acute staff shortage (made worse by the increasing number of deserters), the unwillingness of local gang commanders to obey the unified military command, and a number of issues related to organizing centralized and regular supplies of equipment and armaments for the “Army of Novorossiya” from the Russian Federation. Additionally, existing weaponry requires creating and developing an appropriate operation and repairs base. At this time, the latter issue is being addressed by fragmentary use of the machine-building and repair capacities in the region. However, a “regular army” will require specialized capacities and a large number of trained specialists (at this time, that role is filled by representatives of the Russian Armed Forces, who are keen to “delegate” their duties to local insurgents). Currently, the “LNR” [Luhansk People’s Republic] and the “DNR” [Donetsk People’s Republic] see no way of solving the above problems.

The task group of Russian-terrorist troops that previously took part in combat near the Donetsk Airport and Avdiivka has been spotted in the northern districts of Donetsk. The group has up to 20 armored vehicles, up to 30 cannon artillery systems, and a large number of mortars. After the losses incurred in battles for the Donetsk Airport, this group is being replenished, mainly with Russian mercenaries and contract soldiers of the Russian Army.

Many buildings, including residential blocks and production facilities, have been destroyed in Avdiivka as a result of fire strikes and shelling by Russian-terrorist troops. Local residents are convinced that those strikes were made by Ukrainian troops. However, objective firing data (including projectile landing trajectories) show that the strikes were made by the artillery of Russian-terrorist troops.

Additional insurgent formations arrived near Horlivka as reinforcements. We received reports about units of the so-called “Oplot” brigade, up to 2 reinforced companies. The insurgents are armed with light and heavy infantry weapons, including mortars and grenade launchers. This area also saw the arrival of up to 6 armored vehicles, repaired after the clashes near Vuhlehirsk. We have reports of Russian-terrorist troops concentrating in the area of Vuhlehirsk and Krasnyi Partyzan.

At one of the latest meetings with the command staff of the newly-created “Horlivka Brigade,” the terrorist leaders were given a task to restore complete control over the Horlivka – Donetsk motorway (at this time, a large section of the motorway is controlled by the Ukrainian military).

Up to 5 tanks of Russian-terrorist troops were spotted arriving at firing positions near the Bakhmut motorway. Several enemy artillery batteries armed with 122-mm Gvozdika 2S1 self-propelled howitzers were maneuvering between firing positions in the same area. Individual instances of enemy artillery fire were reported in this area.

Wings Phoenix: The first shipment of Ukrainian humanitarian aid is now closed in full

By Wings Phoenix, (Iurii Biriukov), army volunteer and Assistant Minister to the Minister of Defense

The question of the first shipment of Canadian humanitarian aid we have closed in full. Bogdan Kovalev – my hero, silent and diligent. Under his supervision, the entire shipment of Canadian goods has been received, accounted for, distributed and delivered. The 93rd Brigade received most of it, some things went to Aidar [Battalion] (several dozen pairs of footwear), some things went to the territorial defense battalions. Bogdan will lay out a full report on it today.

The Canadian representative responsible for this shipment, Lenna Koszarny, wrote in her report:

“I am very proud to serve as one of the Canadian volunteers under the stewardship of our incredible Ambassador from Canada to Ukraine, Ambassador Waschuk, the Canadian government and working in tandem with Bogdan Kovalev, a hard-working dedicated volunteer with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense as appointed by the President of Ukraine. Bogdan is a member of the outstanding Ukrainian volunteer group led by Yurii Biriukov and David Braun and just as dedicated as the Canadian volunteers are to ensuring the aid from the Canadian transport plane that arrived last week gets to the soldiers in the field. What has impressed me the most is how quickly this aid was deployed by the Canadian government and then by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and volunteers.”

We are now waiting for the next shipment, which is supposed to arrive by sea at the very end of December.

Anatoly Traxel:

Today is a holiday. The armoured division is in the box, no holidays for them. And yesterday we were greeted by the representative of the Canadian Prime Minister, so I kissed her hand 😉 and sent my regards to Canada. We are now dressed in Canadian way, and there are more interesting things being shipped via ocean, from what she says. She speaks Ukrainian with an accent, but in a very literary way. Canada is with us not only in words!

Anna Netrebko donated one million rubles for the restoration of the theatre building, and Oleg Tsarov was to transfer the money to the Donetsk Opera…

Asked whether there are estimates for the restoration of the theater, Tsarov said that there was no significant damage to it, but he was not able to explain what had happened to the Donetsk Opera. A video of the press conference appeared on the network, said Espreso.TV.

Moreover, in his commentary Tsarov was unable to link together a single full sentence.

Earlier, Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko gave a million rubles to the terrorist Tsarov to repair the undamaged Donetsk Opera House. The money for the Opera House is to be transferred to them by the leader of the terrorist group “Novorossiya,” Oleg Tsarov.

According to Netrebko, she gave the money to support the artists who continue to work at the conservatory, despite the shelling, as part of the charity event for the third St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

“I am not a politician, but I want to help colleagues who find themselves in a difficult situation,”– said the singer.

It should be added, that the singer’s representative, Vladimir Monastyrsky, noted repeatedly that the money that Netrebko donated to Donbas – is from her personal savings.

However, journalists from Hromadske.TV Donbas videotaped the whole and intact building on December 9th, for whose repair the singer donated money to Tsarov.

Dmitry Tymchuk: Military updates, 12/11 – “Day of Silence 2”

Operational data from Information Resistance:

Despite the extended “Day of Silence,” Russian-terrorist troops deployed in the combat zone in Donbas continued to open fire, including prolonged shelling.

During the past twenty-four hours, the enemy delivered fire over several hours in the area of Marinka (firing small arms and ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft cannons). To the south of Avdiivka, enemy fire (small arms and mortars) lasted approximately 1 hour. Shorter firing attacks were also reported on other sections along the combat line in Donbas.

In an area to the northeast of the Donetsk Airport, a group from “Rosich” 7th special forces squad of the Russian MIA Internal Troops was on the move when it came under fire from a mortar squad of local insurgents, who mistook the Russian military servicemen for Ukrainian special forces. There are casualties among the Russian special forces; according to our preliminary reports, the group’s commander was destroyed.

We received reports that near Nikishyne, units of Russian-terrorist troops are withdrawing from the line of contact with Ukrainian troops. The long-term combat goal of the enemy in this area was to destroy the support point of Ukrainian troops and “squeeze” our units out of this area. According to a representative of the command of the so-called “Cossack” formations, the defense of Ukrainian troops is rather effectively organized in this area, and prevents the insurgents from achieving the above goal.

At terrorist checkpoints near Bryanka, terrorists from the so-called “Cossack units” are stopping passing civilian vehicles and forcefully “enlisting” male civilians, under threat of armed violence.

Near Yasynuvata, insurgents are continuing their attempts to repair shot and damaged military equipment. Taking advantage of the “Day of Silence,” terrorists use tug trucks to try and evacuate the damaged equipment (about a dozen units). While they succeeded in evacuating 2 tanks and 2 APC, repair and restoration of the equipment remains problematic for them, due to lack of qualified specialists. Insurgents are discussing the idea of “luring away” Ukrainian military specialists from the repairs base in Artemivsk. How they are planning to accomplish this remains unknown.

Ukrainian checkpoints are tightening up control over the movement of citizens and civilian vehicles. Earlier, the IR group received reports of multiple cases of insurgents (including unit commanders) disguising themselves as civilians to enter the territory controlled by Ukrainian troops.

Another terrorist supply convoy (about 10 trucks, mainly delivering ammunition) entered Yasynuvata. Empty trucks (up to 15) escorted by Russian military servicemen moved through Shakhtarsk, heading towards the state border with Russia.
