Resident report from Mariupol: No panic in the city. #FreeSavchenko

The ENTIRE “Vostochnyi” neighborhood [of Mariupol] has been shelled. “Grad” shells landed into the yards of [residential] nine-story [apartment] buildings, striking almost all residential floors [in the process]. The Eastern walls of the buildings are damaged. Take a map and see for yourself from where the strikes came. [Ed. Note: According to the Azov Battalion, they came from Novoazovsk.]

Detached single-family homes got hit as well.

Early morning. The merchants were laying their goods out on the shelves, waiting for their first customers. Their wait is over. Among the dead are a loader and a young salesclerk.

[I] saw six bodies, stopped shooting after the third, I was not feeling well. [People say] that ten [people] were killed in the streets. In addition, there are also dead and wounded in the high-rises. [Ed. Note: Radio Svoboda reports there are 20 dead and over 80 people wounded.]

The rotten city government is now in a meeting at the Ordzhonikidze Executive Committee, working on another prickly statement. [I] don’t see a single representative of the city executive at the scene. Many ambulances, [officials from] the MES [Ministry for Emergency Situations], a semblance of HQ has been formed (there are photos). Police and firefighters are at work. Business as usual, no fuss. Don’t think that [we are] in panic and everyone is on the run. Next to the covered corpse is a line [to buy] bread at a half-destroyed store.

[Ed. Note: According to Euromaydan initiative, [Stepan] Poltorak [Defense Minister of Ukraine ] announced at a meeting [today] that [Ukrainian troops] were able to destroy four of the six “Grads” that shelled Mariupol.]

Dmitry Tymchuk: Military update 1.23 #FreeSavchenko

Operational data from Information Resistance:

During the last twenty-four hours, the situation in the conflict zone in Donbas remained highly problematic. Russian-terrorist troops continued mass shelling onto the positions of Ukrainian troops and attempted advancing. Ukrainian troops are taking adequate measures to contain the enemy.

The enemy continues deploying reinforcements to the “front line” near Donetsk. “Infantry” divisions and up to 15 armored vehicles (including 7 tanks) have been reported moving from the southern districts of Donetsk to the western districts. At the same time, an enforced tank company was deployed from the southern districts of Donetsk towards Dokuchajevsk. Task groups operating in the Pisky-Avdiivka area received reinforcements to resupply their losses, including at least 10 tanks, 8 armored combat vehicles, and approximately 300 insurgents and Russian mercenaries as ranks resupply.

On positions to the northwest of Makiivka, an insurgent unit operating Smerch multiple rocket launcher systems has been deployed, with the task of providing fire support to terrorist units in the Donetsk directions.

Combat intensity has been increasing near Horlivka. The enemy artillery delivered powerful hits on the positions of Ukrainian troops, firing from positions near the “Dynamo” market and the village of Korolenko. Civilians are fleeing the city and its outskirts en masse. Ukrainian artillery destroyed a multiple rocket launcher system (BM-21 Grad) stationed in this area. Wounded insurgents are being “sorted” [to be sent to different medical facilities]: up to 50 terrorists with light and medium wounds have been reported in the Horlivka Municipal Hospital N2, while heavily wounded insurgents are being sent to the Railway Administration Hospital at Mykytivka station. Considering the large numbers of wounded insurgents and Russian mercenaries, terrorists are also converting a local tuberculosis treatment center into a field hospital.

Enemy continued advance attempts along the Bakhmut motorway, in the area of Checkpoint #29. Insurgents made two large-scale assaults, supported by artillery. However, repelled by Ukrainian artillery units, the enemy failed to make significant advances towards the Siversky Donets river and lost at least 4 armored vehicles.

Advance attempts were also made by the enemy near Troitske. After a brief shelling, a Russian-terrorist task group with armored vehicles (a total of 6 tanks, 12 ACVs, and a reinforced infantry company) started an assault on the front positions of Ukrainian troops. After meeting with the fire of Ukrainian combat outposts and being shelled by Ukrainian artillery, the group incurred losses and fell back. Evacuation of the wounded and destroyed insurgents took place for several hours, with the permission of the Ukrainian command.

Near Slovyanoserbsk, Ukrainian artillery shelled a convoy of Russian-terrorist troops consisting of 10 armored vehicles (tanks and ACVs). At least one armored vehicle was destroyed.

The enemy artillery group stationed to the west of Stakhanov (cannon artillery and multiple rocket launcher systems) is delivering concentrated fire on the positions of Ukrainian troops on the Debaltseve foothold. To the south of Stakhanov, a group of armored vehicles is accumulated (approximately 20 units, including at least 7 tanks).

A battalion task group consisting of Russian military servicemen reinforced by a local insurgent unit has been reported moving towards the Debaltseve foothold. The group includes up to 12 tanks, 25 armored combat vehicles, specialized motor vehicles, and an allotted artillery unit (employing cannon artillery).

The enemy is concentrating personnel and armaments near the Alchevsk – Pervomaisk “shoulder” [of the terrorist-controlled area]. As reported by the IR group, the vanguard of the enemy’s battalion task group arrived here earlier. At this time, combat equipment and personnel of the Russian-terrorist troops are being deployed through Alchevsk. Over the last 24 hours, we have reports of over 30 units of equipment (including 10 tanks, 15 ACVs, and specialized motor vehicles) moving through this area.

Pavel Shelkov: “The protest movement has come under threat of physical violence” in Russia #FreeSavchenko

Stalin thumbing off his bodyguard, Lt. Gen. Nikolai Vlasik, who took this photo. Date unknown.

The [Russian] protest movement has come under threat of physical violence.

With the verdicts and prosecutions imposed on the guys arrested on January 15, 2015 under the new article regarding repeated detentions, we all ended up in a new reality where everyone could be illegally grabbed, a verdict can be fabricated and they can be imprisoned for several years. They can imprison for 3 years for a publication in LiveJournal like they imprisoned Sergei Reznik from Rostov, they can imprison for a solitary picket, when the authorities send in titushkas, like they are planning to sentence 75-year-old Vladimir Ionov. But yesterday it turned out that this is not even the full arsenal of the office.

The other day one of our activists got visited at home by one well-known FSB operative who recommended him to leave the territory of Russia in 2 weeks for his own good. This benefactor enlightened us also about our future fate if we do not listen to his recommendations and our fate, by his prediction would be tragic. The left-wing activists would simply all be imprisoned, but for us liberals they have another scenario. A number of us, according to him, will simply DISAPPEAR (i.e. as I understood we are talking about a physical elimination or kidnapping).
This unenviable fate, according to him, is prepared by the office for Pavel Shelkov, i.e. for me, Vladimir Ionov, Mark Galperin, Ildar Dadin (the latter two are under arrest) and the mother of many children and ardent supporter of Ukraine, Catherine Maldon.

Those liberals from the protest movements who will not disappear will be put behind bars.

Of course in this monologue he was not talking about the VIP persons of the opposition who according to rumours have curators in the office, but specifically about those whom the office considered impossible to recruit or buy up.
Maybe the goal of giving us this information is to force the most active activists to emigrate from the country, like “they will leave and it will become calmer, the order of the Chief Sterkh is carried out.” [Ed. note: Putin is Chief Sterkh, a reference to him flying with the cranes].

But it is possible that this is a very real threat to our lives.

So if the people mentioned by me really do suddenly disappear or die in a traffic accident, or their heart stops in the bath like what happened to Putler’s enemy in Germany (the office has many means of removing the unwanted) know that this is an elimination of us that has been planned in Lubianka [FSB office]. Such people as we do not simply die for no reason.

I think many of us will now think about emigrating from Russia. And just in case, detailed information about who the threat originated from and all the circumstances of this chat are in a safe place with our friends outside of Russia and in the case of our elimination will be made public in Western media and posted on the Internet.

In the words of the shoemaker’s son Dzugashvili [Stalin] – life has become better, life has become merrier!

Dmitry Tymchuk: Military update 1.22 #FreeSavchenko

Operational data from Information Resistance:

Attention: Due to constant changes in the operational and tactical situation, we, the IR group, refrain from disseminating information related to the actions of Ukrainian troops. We believe that Ukrainian government agencies should provide this information. Information about the actions of Russian-terrorist troops gets relayed to us on the basis of the past 24 hours. As always – after a comprehensive verification of the operational data.

In the conflict zone in Donbas, Russian-terrorist forces continue to conduct active offensive operations. In the area of Donetsk, the enemy conducted a constant shelling of the positions of Ukrainian troops over the past few days and attempted an assault, forcing the divisions of Ukrainian troops to carry out a partial regrouping.

Near Pisky, heavy fighting with massive use of artillery and armored vehicles continued. On the highway through the city of Snizhne, the enemy continues to transfer manpower and vehicles from the south in the Kuibyshev district of Donetsk and in the area of YasynuvataSpartak. Over 01.21.2015, the enemy has significantly increased the combat capability of its tactical groups concentrated in these districts.

After the losses incurred in the vicinity of Spartak – Putilovskyi Overpass, the armored group of Russian-terrorist troops operating in the area withdrew and conducted their reinforcement of military equipment and personnel. The arrival of 6 tanks and 4 armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) for resupply of this armored group has been observed.

The enemy tactical group that operates in the direction of Staromykhailivka Pisky, under cover of massive artillery fire, is trying to push Ukrainian troops behind the Donetsk Bypass Road, towards the line of OpytneVodyane.

In the vicinity of the Bakhmut highway, the enemy was unable to “break through the front” despite all efforts. The movement of two interacting enemy artillery groups (up to 40 units of cannon and rocket artillery), and about 25 tanks and 40 AFVs, centered on a narrow stretch, has been recorded in the area. Shellings and assault attempts by the enemy encounter an adequate response from Ukrainian troops defending their frontline positions at the Seversky Donets River. Also, massive fire strikes are being inflicted on the positions of Ukrainian troops near Krymske and Trokhizbenka.

Russian-terrorist forces continue to increase the formation at their base area along the stretch from StarobesheveKomsomolske. The arrival of another convoy through Amvrosiivka (up to 20 covered trucks, 2 BMP-2 IFVs) was recorded. Part of the enemy artillery group that conducted the fire from the vicinity of Komsomolske changed their firing positions. To support the reinforced company tactical group (CTG) of terrorists, which engages in combat with advanced Ukrainian units in the area of Hranytne – Telmanove, [new] support has arrived (3 tanks, 10 AFVs).

Insurgents transferred two combined mobile groups as reinforcements to their [gang] formation operating in Horlivka. A series of armored vehicles and several “infantry” units of insurgents (at least one CTG [company tactical group] on a BMP-2 has been recorded, several mobile groups – up to 20 units of equipment, included 6 tanks were moved to the advanced line at the arch north of the city) have arrived in Vuhlehirsk. South and east of Yenakiieve, two groups of 350-400 insurgents have been observed, each in the possession of up to 12 units of armored vehicles, appropriately equipped with cargo transport and weapons (mortars, heavy grenade launchers, etc.).

In the area of Olenivka and Dokuchajevsk, part of the gangs moved back to the north, part [of them] changed their positions. Enemy artillery group, concentrated in Dokuchajevsk, continues to strike at Ukrainian troops, preventing their advancement in the stretch from Stepne Novomykhailivka.

In the Mariupol region, intense fighting continued. Advanced groups of Russian-terrorist troops could not move either northeast or north of the city. Particularly intense fighting and shelling have been observed in the area of Pavlopil Sartana. Enemy artillery is leading massive fire strikes on the advanced positions of Ukrainian troops, trying to create conditions for the further advancement of insurgent groups.
