In the city of Sloviansk, (Donetsk Oblast) houses belonging to Roma Gypsies are again being robbed.
Armed separatists are breaking into the homes and stealing the property of local Gypsies. In one building, criminals tried to shoot out the lock. The bullet ricocheted and wounded the separatist in the foot, according to Espreso.TV citing Novosti Donbassa news agency.
Local residents are afraid of more pogroms and looting and fear ethnic cleansing.
During the last week there were seven incidents of attacks on the local Roma population. Unidentified men with guns broke into homes belonging to gypsies, robbing them. Many Roma have since left Sloviansk.
Members of the OSCE observer mission have promised to investigate discrimination against the Roma in the Donetsk region.
Recall that on the night of April 19, 2014 armed separatists started to loot the homes of Roma residents in Sloviansk. They claimed they were fighting against narcotic traffickers.
