Despite earlier statements of the Ministry of Defense of Russia that “military training” near the Ukrainian border would conclude on March 7 (i.e. today), and the forces concentrated in borderland regions of Russia would return to their permanent dislocations, their withdrawal remains to be seen.
On the contrary, more forces are being accumulated near the Ukrainian border. Under the pretext of training, Artillery Regiment N943 (armed with “Uragan” [Hurricane] multiple-launch rocket systems), has been deployed from Maykop district to Zhelezny Rog cape (Taman).
There is also a general increase in the activity of the Russian Armed Forces in the North Caucasus region. Today, a Russian military helicopter breached Georgian air space, from the side of Russian-occupied South Ossetia.
