Russian writer and journalist Lev Rubinstein expressed his support for Ukrainians and asked for an apology.
Rubinstein explained, “The moment has come when it is impossible to stay quiet and hard to think of what to say.”
“All my thoughts are with you. All my concerns and hopes are with you. All my frustration and anger are with you,” – the writer said in a statement to Ukrainians.
“We’ll probably have to say some pretty pathetic words: Try to forgive us. Us, as in a few (unfortunately) sane Russians who are not poisoned by the toxic imperial gas. This is not the gas Gazprom [Russian gas monopoly] is responsible for. This type of gas comes, unfortunately, from within.”
“Try to forgive us for our lack of strength or the lack of will to stop our crazies who are ready to cover our country, my country with such incredible shame that will have to be washed off by efforts of several generations.”
“Try to forgive us. And even if you cannot, nothing can be done about that, I know that we deserve your contempt,” – said Lev Rubinstein.
