The fire in the Trade Unions House has intensified, according to a report from the UNIAN news agency. Thick black smoke and fire are visible on the seventh floor of the building. Clashes between the protesters and the police continue.
The police are throwing stun grenades and shooting with non-lethal weapons. Protesters hurl stones in response. People are constantly bringing food and tires to Maidan, and Molotov cocktails and stones to the front lines. Maidan can be reached from Besarabska Square, Velyka Zhytomyrska, and Prorizna Streets.Some protesters sleep on the pavement next to the stage as the Trade Unions House has been almost completely destroyed by fire. Throughout the night on Wednesday, 18 February, bloody clashes took place on Maidan, despite the president’s statements that the government is not interested in violent scenarios. According to various sources, around 350-500 people have been injured.
