Can you imagine if the riot police of any civilized country were paid to carry out targeted attacks on its own citizens?

IS THAT BERKUT (Ukrainian special forces riot police) OR…
(imaginary state)
ROAD PHANTOMS (that look an awful lot like Berkut)?

An activist published this video of Berkut destroying his car on January 19th (hooray for dash cams!).

On that date AutoMaidan (the Maidan group formed to protect against road violations by police and mobilized to go quickly to help people in need) announced that 25 buses of Berkut soldiers had gone through AutoMaidan lines on Bohatyrska Street, destroying one of their cars and taking an activist.

On February 7, in response to the activist’s claim about the assault on his car, the Ministery of Internal Affairs stated that no Berkut had been present on Bohatyrska Street on the evening of January 19th.

This is definitely one case where the video pretty much speaks for itself…

In Ukraine there is now this untenable situation where perpetrators of (state) crimes are clearly visible, they are identifiable, and in a normal democracy they would be prosecuted but here there has not been a single prosecution in any case, even with clear and undeniable evidence. How can anyone trust in the justice system of their own country when such acts take place backed by the legal system?
