Nadiya Savchenko [in cage] in court giving testimony today with her 3 lawyers [centre] and mother Maria who travelled from Kyiv (bottom right).
Today, 09.29.2015, Nikolai Polozov, one of Nadiya Savchenko’s three lawyers, tweeted this letter Nadiya wrote before the second court appearance of her trial in which she gives testimony:
To the honest people of the world,
Today begins my final battle against the hypocrisy and lawlessness of the Russian authorities. The trial will not be honest and fair. In Russia this is not possible, here the court and investigators are puppets of the Kremlin. The battle will be to show the whole civilized and progressive world the truth about Russia and the crimes of its rulers. The final fight – is the hardest fight.
Thank you to all of you, that you have remained and don’t abandon me, and Ukraine, in this battle which is not easy.
Together we will win! Ukraine above all!
Glory to Ukraine!
Meanwhile, outside the court building, this brave woman was found in a (legal) solo picket of the trial. Her name is Yana Goncharova and she came to the Donetsk, Russia courtroom to support Nadiya from Rostov, Russia. This is extraordinary when you take into account that Rostov is the staging ground for recruit preparation before entering Ukraine for troop rotations in Russia’s invasion.
Oleg Mezentsev: “Now, at the courtroom in Donetsk, Rostov region [Russia]. A single picket in support of Nadiya.”
The front of her shirt says: “I’m not afraid.” The back says: “Why raise a new generation of slaves?” and she’s holding up a huge poster that says “Freedom for Nadiya Savchenko” with recognizable images of Nadiya by a well known Ukrainian artist.

Operational data from Information Resistance:
During the day, militants opened point-blank fire from small arms in the direction of Artemivsk, and from rocket-propelled grenade launchers – in the Donetsk and Mariupol directions. No actual clashes between units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Russian-terrorist forces were recorded.
Information is circulating among the Russian troops in the Donbas that a general rotation will be held in October. Military personnel who have experience in combat operations against the ATO [anti-terrorism operation] forces, will be sent to fight in Syria.
A division of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, which was based in the Southern Train Terminal of Donetsk, has been fully withdrawn to the territory of the Russian Federation.
The so-called “Republican Guard of the DNR [“Donetsk Peoples’ Republic”]” has been disbanded. Russian mercenaries that fought as part of it are currently trying to flee to Russia, expressing extreme dissatisfaction concerning the non-payment of their salaries ever since July. Representatives of the so-called “Republican Guard of the DNR” – callsigns “Chekist” and “Talib[an]”– have been declared “wanted” for looting and embezzlement.
The DNR leader Aleksandr Zakharchenko is creating an armed gang “assault battalion,” the “Somali Battalion,” which will be directly subordinate to him. A terrorist, callsign “Givi” [aka Mikhail Tolstykh] is appointed the commander of the newly formed illegal armed group.
Clashes over spheres of influence on the territory of the “DNR” are noted between gangs. The so-called “Prosecutor’s Office” and “MSS” [“Ministry of State Security”] of the “DNR” continue initiating criminal proceedings against local terrorists and Russian mercenaries (it is forbidden to institute criminal proceedings against soldiers of the Russian Army). In the ranks of the illegal armed groups, there has been a sharp decline in discipline, rampant alcohol abuse, and use of weapons in a state of intoxication, which have resulted in civilian casualties.
At terrorist checkpoints, there are multiple facts of “confiscation” of property from persons traveling to or returning from Ukraine-controlled areas. In Horlivka, members of an illegal armed gang forcibly took a car trailer from a civilian, while in the area of Novoazovsk terrorists took a minibus from local citizens, badly beating its owners in the process.
The “MSS” [“Ministry of State Security] and the “Prosecutor’s Office” are soft-pedaling the “investigation” of the murder of 3 locals by militants of the so-called “Motorized Infantry Regiment, 1st Army Corps of the DNR 1” in the area of Novoazovsk.Meanwhile, people continue to disappear in the Novoazovsk region.
An armored group of terrorists (18 BMP-2 [IFVs] and MT-LB, 8 tanks) took up positions near the town of Oktyabr;
Another armored group of militants (8 BMD [assault infantry vehicles] and 4 tanks) transferred to the vicinity of Sakhanka, between Bezimenne and Novoazovsk. The positions of the armored group have been camouflaged.
East of Krasnyi Luch, the positions of militant artillery batteries of 2S3 “Akatsiya” were noted (6 self-propelled guns, as well as 2 MT-LB [multipurpose transporter truck] and 5 military trucks). Previously, this division was deployed as part of the armored group near Novofedorivka (the MLRS “Grad” battery was left here).
The militants who received training on the “training field” near Perevalsk were sent in the direction of Oleksandrivka [Luhansk] on board of 10 trucks. Ten armored combat vehicles used during the “training” were sent towards Lutuhyne (while 5 more ACVs remained on the “training field”).
Repairs of equipment (tanks, self-propelled guns, armored combat vehicles) for the so-called “people’s militia of the LNR” [“Luhansk Peoples Republic”]” are carried out on the facilities of the former “Aggregate” plant (Krasnodon, Luhansk region). The employees are hired from the locals, and paid a salary of $350-450 US dollars [per month].
In Luhansk and Stakhanov, the “LNR MSS” [Ministry of State Security] are conducting “filtering measures” in order to identify “spies” who came from the territory controlled by Ukraine.

Operational data from Information Resistance:
In the ATO zone, shellings by Russian-terrorist forces were observed. Over the past 24 hours, the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces between Katerynivka and Popasna were shelled by a sniper group that worked under cover of heavy machine guns; erratic militant fire from small arms was recorded north ofStrohnativka, between Mar’inka and Krasnohovorivka, as well as near Shumy, Avdiivka, and Zaitseve.
Information about Putin’s plans to “cut the DNR and the LNR loose” continues circulating among the soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces. Career officers of the Russian Army are not as inclined to take “vacations” on Ukrainian territory and participate in terrorist activities of illegal armed groups in Donbas. Terrorists also actively discuss the information about “[Putin’s] adieu.” Militants are increasingly discussing the idea of being prepared “to stop the war” on the condition of a guaranteed amnesty from Kyiv.
Terrorists are assembling a “special forces company of the DNR” in a city of Novoazovsk; [the company will be staffed with] up to 50 people, who will function as interior troops. The unit will conduct sweeps in the district, monitor checkpoints, etc.
Deployment of a gang was detected in the area of Starobesheve (along the Kuteinykove–Starobesheve–Mospyne line). The gang includes up to 20 different AFVs and 8 tanks. Its personnel was transferred to this area from Donetsk on board of army trucks and civilian passenger vehicles.
In the area of Novofedorivka, an artillery battalion of Russian-terrorist forces was deployed on previously equipped positions. The battalion includes one battery of MLRS BM-21 “Grad” and one battery of 2S1 “Akatsiya” self-propelled artillery guns.
Active delivery of ammunition to the positions of terrorist mortar units (82 mm mortars) was observed in the Petrovskyi and Kyivskyi districts of Donetsk.
Nine covered boxcars with ammunition and equipment, and three platforms with two T-72 tanks on each arrived at the Ilovaisk train station.
The IR network identified a base of special forces of the Russian GRU of the General Staff in the vicinity of Lutuhyne.
The “head” of the “DNR” terrorist organization Aleksandr Zakharchenko is actively preparing for the so-called elections. Following his order, printed media entitled Evening Donetsk is currently in the works. The [newspaper] will cover information “about the state of the economy and industry of the DNR,” and most importantly, [it] will become the information mouthpiece of Zakharchenko’s PR campaign for fictitious elections. The appointed editor of the newspaper is Tatyana Dubova, a photojournalist of the Donetsk bureau of a Russian news agency RIA “News” and former chief editor of the Donetsk “Vesti” [newspaper]. The newspaper will launch on September 30.
The Presidential Administration of Russia ordered the Ministry of Defense, the FSB, the Investigative Committee, and the Foreign Ministry to urgently prepare materials [in order] to discredit the Ukrainian leadership during Putin’s speech at the UN General Assembly. The Russian President will try to accuse the Ukrainian authorities of crimes against humanity on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions using “pictorial materials” akin to a “crucified Slavic boy” [circulated on Russian TV in July of 2014].
The management of the “Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works” is negotiating with relevant “ministries and departments” of the “LNR” terrorist organization and their Russian supervisors regarding the sale of their products outside the “LNR,” particularly in Europe. Ukraine’s failure to return railway cars to the occupied territories posits a particular problem in this respect. In turn, Russian supervisors are suggesting that businesses operating on the territory of the “LNR” engage in “foreign economic activities” with Russia using wire money transfers, as follows: they would use Ukrainian registration documents to open accounts in a NBCO (Non-Banking Credit Organization), and “LNR” registration documents to [open] accounts in the so-called “LNR State Bank,” to subsequently transfer the money from NBCO accounts to the “LNR State Bank.”

Operational data from Information Resistance:
In a number of places in the ATO [anti-terrorist operation] zone, Russian terrorist forces were observed indiscriminately directing poorly aimed fire from small arms and AGS-17 automatic grenade launchers, while in the Donetsk area terrorist forces used 122 mm artillery against ATO forces’ positions. In three stretches – between the towns of Shchastya and Stanytsia Luhanska, and near the towns of Mar’inka and Luhanske – activity by enemy sniper groups was noted.
The main problem for ATO forces at this stage is demining [the ground]. It is estimated that the total surface area of sites which are not cleared of unexploded ordnance, as well as mines and explosive devices planted by Russian-terrorist troops, is at least 10,000 hectares; in a substantial part of this territory the Ukrainian armed forces have conducted sapper work.
On the training field near the town of Perevalsk, military training of “recruits” destined for the formations of the so-called “2nd Army Corp” (“LNR”[“Luhansk People’s Republic”]) continues. Both officers and sergeants of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, as well as local terrorists with extensive combat experience, serve as training instructors.
Tank “biathlon” today in Torez, near Perevalsk includes Russian military Strela-10 SAM system on display:
In Donetsk, the relocation of several dozen different types of AFV [armored fighting vehicles], and of up to 800 armed persons in Russian military uniforms with Russian Armed Forces chevrons were observed.
The transfer of a militant armored vehicle group consisting of five tanks and fourteen AFV of various types to the area near the town of Oktyabr was recorded.
An armored group of terrorists comprised of 10 tanks and armored fighting vehicles has been transferred north of the town of Novoazovsk.
The deterioration of morale in a number of armed militant groups is observed. In the past few days, three mercenaries deserted from the “Oplot” brigade stationed in Mospyne. Militants are submitting “resignation” requests en masse and, to prevent defections, identification documents have been taken away from all personnel on the orders of the “command” of the illegal armed formation “Oplot.”

According to IR group operational data, political parties in the Russian Federation are trying to set up and legalize their party cells in the territories occupied by the Russian-terrorist forces.
In particular, the leaders of the “League of Communists of Luhansk,” I. Gumenyuk and E. Lisitsyn, reached agreement with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia [LDPR], V. Zhirinovskiy, on the establishment of the Donbas Liberal-Democrat “territorial organization,” which the above-mentioned comrades are planning to head. The approximate composition of the LDPR leadership in Luhansk will look something like this: I. Gumenyuk, E. Lisitsyn, M. Zolkin and V. Popov (LOC CPU – Luhansk Oblast Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine).
In addition, Gumenyuk plans to seize control of the leadership of the entire Communist Party network in the occupied territories and to remove persons close to S. Kilinkarov from leadership positions in the regional cells of the Communist Party. The latter is credited with a “too pro-Ukrainian” position.
In connection with Gumenyuk’s plans, merciless criticism has been unleashed against influential Communists [from the] Filipskiy [family], the First Secretary of the Luhansk City Committee (LCC) of the Ukrainian Communist Party, M. Chalenko, and Secretary of the LCC of the Ukrainian Communist Party for ideological matters, A. Aulova. A “republican” conference of the “Communist League of the Luhansk Region” is planned on September 26th at the address of the former Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine (498 Artema Street, Luhansk). The intention is to “elect” the head of this “political organization.” The event will be supervised by representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, in particular the 1st Secretary of the Leningrad Oblast Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, L. Illarionova. The main issue of the “republican conference” will be the formation of a structural subunit of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation based on the “Communist League of the Luhansk Region” and the de facto reformatting of all Communist Party of Ukraine cells in occupied territory in Luhansk Oblast [region] into cells of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
Leaders of these cells have already been approved by the Moscow “guests” and their puppets, so their “election” will be a formality. Notably, Y. Sinenko, the commander of one of the units of the so-called “People’s Militia” of the “Luhansk People’s Republic” will become the 1st secretary of the Kamyanobrodsky District Committee. He is responsible for transporting the “food aid” sent by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation from the Russian Communists’ Rostov office.
It should be noted that the food products from the Russian Communists do not reach the civilian population – after “a triumphant presentation” staged for the local and Kremlin media, the supplies are distributed among the illegal armed groups. In addition to food, the consignments contain uniforms and regimentals for the terrorists, communications equipment, and even components for UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles].
Russia will send to the Donbas it’s 39th supply convoy

Operational data from Information Resistance:
The situation in the ATO zone remained relatively calm during the past 24 hours. Incidents of erratic fire were observed on the Luhanske – Popasna – Zolote stretch, in the vicinity of Kirove and Horlivka, and south of Mar’inka.
The ATO forces in the so-called “grey zones” are carrying out mine clearing operations and evacuating the victims’ bodies for subsequent identification.
Terrorists intensified their efforts to provide “green” corridors for contraband, which makes it necessary for the ATO forces to ensure more active anti-contraband efforts.
In the vicinity of Donetsk Airport, militants deployed positions for an armored group – up to 5 armored combat vehicles and 3 tanks.
Near the settlement of Kuteinykove, positions have been equipped for a motorized rifle terrorist unit on board of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and MT-LB.
In the vicinity of Perevalsk, two company-level motorized rifle militant units (14 armored combat vehicles of various types, and 6 tanks) are carrying out combat training.
A battalion-level terrorist unit in the area of Telmanove is equipping its combat positions.
In the western part of Donetsk, [we recorded] firing positions for 120 mm mortars, which militants had not withdrawn from the demarcation line.
Three tanker trucks and five covered army trucks, with an escort of 2 MT-LB and BTR-80 APCs passed through Shakhtarsk in the direction of Starobesheve.
A 12-tank unit deployed north of Yasynuvata split into several armored groups. Four tanks and an infantry platoon remained at their positions, while the rest moved in the direction of Spartak.
An illegal armed formation (formerly the “Prizrak” [Ghost] gang) located in the vicinity of Zholobok is undergoing rotation.
All commandant’s offices of the “DNR” [Donetsk People’s Republic] terrorist organizations received a circular with orders to prepare for the “elections” planned for October 18.
The Order of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: to withdraw from Donbas certain units of the regular Russian army and several, mostly combat-ready units of Russian mercenaries, for subsequent redeployment to Syria – has caused panic in the “DNR” and the “LNR” [Luhansk People’s Republic]. Local terrorist command believes that Moscow is relinquishing its plans to further escalate the conflict in Donbas and is abandoning local terrorists to their own devices. Their panic is exacerbated by the rumors of the impending reinforcement of security on the state border between Russia and Ukraine, specifically in areas adjacent to the occupied territories; the security reinforcement will be allegedly carried out by the FSB [Federal Security Service] Border Forces, in order to prevent entry to Russia by “undesirable elements” from among their own [Russian] mercenaries and local militants.
Many of the Russian “advisors” (regular officers of the Russian army) to gangs and “command bodies” of the 1st and 2nd “Army Corps” (of the “DNR” and the “LNR”) are leaving for Russia. At this time, there is no information to confirm whether their departure is carried out as part of a rotation, or whether the Russian General Staff is winding down the scale of military “assistance” to local militants.
