3.bild Everlasting stupidity: 250,000€ per year

Ever wondered why many Western business managers, journalists, politicians, or pundits defend Putin’s aggressive and oppressive policies? Ever wondered why so few Russians in Russia and abroad speak out against Putin’s oppressive policies? If you haven’t wondered yet, that is because as a Westerner you cannot fathom in the slightest the Putin system of oppression, coercion, and corruption.

Some of Putin’s apologists might genuinely believe that Russia is not interfering in Ukraine, hasn’t invaded Crimea and isn’t a racist, fascist dictatorship ruled by a kleptomaniac dwarf. Other Russia defenders hate the West and per “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” have thrown their lot in with Putin. Both of these groups are in the Kremlin’s view “useful idiots”, as it has to neither pay nor coerce them, as they incessantly repeat all the harebrained nonsense emanating from the Kremlin’s…

Maidan as a Symptom: Trauma, Wound, and Crypt

By Tamara Hundorova

Heroes of the Heaven’s Hundred are honored on Maidan

These days, Maidan leaves a macabre impression that blends shame with sorrow. More precisely, it is probably the effect of an open, festering, unhealed wound. Armed people in paramilitary outfits bustle around busily, although, it seems, there is no reason to rush, and people who have settled at Maidan and do not want to leave mill about the barricades covered with wilting flowers. Tourists take pictures against the barricades, scattered flowers or even an armored troop-carrier driven in from somewhere, while Kyivans sneak through the Independence Square on their way to work or home. A surge of shame at seeing bottles or boxes asking for cigarette money for the self-defense units: these are no church beggars, but EuroMaidan Heroes. The faces of those still living on Maidan sport questioning or accusatory expressions, as if asking, “How do…

Na, ungefähr so.

Satt. Vor Gericht.

Translated and edited by Voices of Ukraine

10173325_481968728598454_1124228004_nAccording to data from Information Resistance group, pro-Russian terrorists intend to hold another provocation with possible loss of life tomorrow, May 2 in Sloviansk; they will be doing so on orders of the GRU, of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

The diversion is planned to be executed under the guise of “Right Sector” militants.

This action is timed to [coincide with] the arrival in Ukraine of a high-ranking Russian representative, who comes with the ostensible purpose of negotiating the release of OSCE representatives [earlier] hijacked by terrorists. According to our information, this official was in Ukraine during the tragic events on Maidan in February of 2014.

Preparations for the provocation were launched today in Moscow while distributing a “Statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding Kyiv’s plans to conduct a military operation in southeastern Ukraine.”

In particular, the statement specifies that the Kremlin is “concerned with recent media reports about the intention of the Kyiv regime to carry out a special ops assault in the southeastern raions [districts] of Ukraine, as well as the involvement of the ultranationalist “Right Sector” group (the full text of this statement [in Russian] can be found here).

moscow1

On May 1, 2014, during a May Day parade of some 100 000 workers carrying banners “Putin is right”, “Proud of the country” and “Let’s support decisions of our president”, seven brave people marched through the central streets singing the Ukrainian anthem and carrying a giant flag of Ukraine. They were handing out anti-imperialist leaflets saying ‘Enough of raising the empire and resurrecting the USSR’. Four were arrested by the police.
