Dear Voices of Ukraine readers

We need your help! We are running on very tight resources, mainly human resources. We are constantly in need of good translators and editors for our content. Translators, please have a firm grasp of Russian and/or Ukrainian and English or German. Lots of our articles need final proof-reading. We look for help from native speakers and those of similar skill. So far we have concentrated our work on translations into English and German. Our readers with high proficiency in those two languages are very welcome to join our team on regular or not-quite-so-regular basis. We work hard to bring to you the best quality while remaining an entirely voluntary project with no external financing or donations. All we could offer is work for a good cause and discovering more about intricacies of the current situation in Ukraine. If you would like to try it out, use our contact form – we will then get back to you.

UPDATE: Dear everyone, since it was mentioned several times in comments: You don’t necessarily have to speak Ukrainian or Russian to be able to help us but it certainly helps. Basically, knowledge of either Ukrainian or Russian is welcome, but it is not essential. Solid knowledge of English/German language writing and most especially, any editing experience, are needed.

    I’m willing to help.
I’m a 100% Anglo-Saxon American who doesn’t know any Ukrainian; beyond my wife.

  2. St. Michael says:

Post a secure email adress and I’ll proof read some of the posts written in German.

  3. Reblogged this on Ace News Services 2014 and commented:

  6. lisandro says:

May I suggest Spanish translations. Very few of us (from Latin America) understand or have access to whats going on in Ukraine. In fact, due to russian PR there is alot of sympathy for Kremiln so we need to get information from Ukrainian sources.

  7. Angelika says:

I support Stefan Wegners message! We need your extremely important information! it is absolutely necessary to spread more information to people who do not use the Internet or especially this site. Thanks for all your efforts! I am sorry that I can’t speak any Russian or Ukrainian to support you in translating.

  8. I’m a native English speaker who is fluent in Russian. I’m not sure how much time I can devote, but am happy to help. I can translate and am also willing to proof/edit translations.

  9. Beth says:

I have only studied beginning level Russian so I cannot translate, but I’m happy to proofread and edit in English as much as possible. I have experience editing in a number of contexts, including newsletter content written by native Russian speakers.

  13. Franklin Adams says:

Might be a little late to the party here, but hell, I can help. Especially with polishing partial translations. If you still have anything like that going on, then please let me know.

I’d probably be more of an aid toward assisting translations of news regarding Military and Security activity, as it is what I know the best as I’m a US Army veteran. I’m currently a student at a Catholic University in Miami, so I actually have quite a bit of time, and I’m usually awake during the daylight hours in Ukraine. The way I see it, I might as well help a good cause instead of just reading it.

Plus, I already have a pretty solid pedigree in regards to opposing authoritarian regimes in public and loudly. I contributed to the Zimbabwean, Wilf Mbanga’s exile newspaper about Zimbabwe under Mugabe, and I read as well as comment on NKnet’s DailyNK, a defector newspaper published in Seoul that opposes the Kim Jung-un regime in North Korea.

Might just have something to do with my name and my ancestors, but I’m pretty strong in my opinions in regard to tyranny and oppression.

  14. Stephen Walsh says:

Native English speaker, substantial editing experience. Wide (but rather shallow) acquaintance with Slavic languages. Eager to help.

  15. Melinda says:

I would be happy to proofread English translations. I have editing experience, know some Russian and a bit of Ukrainian.

  16. Irina_gem says:

I am happy to help too, plus I have a big network of friends who are all Russian/Ukrainian speakers, living in the UK for the good part of 10 years, so we can definitely help and translate into English, and proofread, I also have a friend who is a professional translator living in Germany for 15 years with technical expertise mostly – so she can help out with German. Please get in touch!

I would be very happy to help proof read your articles. I have several hours a week that I would gladly “donate” to the cause!
