The All-Ukrainian Conference of Euromaidans across Ukraine has supported Anatoliy Hrytsenko’s call to use legal weapons to protect Maidan.
As seen live on Hromadske TV, Euromaidan forum participants voted almost unanimously.
Anatoliy Hrytsenko, a former Minister of Defense of Ukraine from 2007-2012, asked everyone with legal weapons come to Maidan and patrol the streets – MPs, veterans of armed forces, Afghanistan veterans, peacekeepers and employees at private security companies.
“The weapons should only be used in response to the threat of loss to human life,” noted the politician and added that he also often carries his weapons with him.
As reported by iPress.ua, the Headquarters of the National Resistance announced that the Presidential Administration has finalized its decision about the state of emergency in Ukraine and a forceful dispersion of Maidan.
Also today, on January 25, Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko said that the negotiations between riot police with opposition leaders and opposition parliamentary factions that took place on the night of January 24, were unsuccessful. “Events of the past days in Kyiv showed that our attempts to resolve the conflict peacefully and without the use of force have proved useless. Our pleas are not heard; the conditions of cease-fire are being violated. The police who are not using force due to negotiations between the government and the opposition, have Molotov cocktails and pieces of pavement thrown at them, as well as a residential building burning,” noted the official.
“The world community should not close their eyes on events that resemble the highest level of extremist action. Opposition leaders do not object to radical action, but they are also unable to control such actions that endanger the citizens of Ukraine,” he concluded.
