Australia Deepening Military and Technical Cooperation with Ukraine and Sending Ukrainian Army a Load of Military Equipment

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott in the course of which he provided information on the developments in the Donbas.

The Prime Minister of Australia highly evaluated the actions of the Ukrainian President on the implementation of the Peace Plan and the introduction of the ceasefire regime.

Tony Abbott once again expressed gratitude to Ukraine for it actions in overcoming the consequences of the [Malaysian Airlines Boeing] MH-17 tragedy. He informed that the Government of Australia was ready to allocate 1 million USD for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine through the ICRC [International Committee of the Red Cross].

Australia will consider the opportunity of enhancing military-technical cooperation and, as the first stage, will send a shipment of military equipment and means of warming.

Also, Australia is ready to begin programs of teaching, training and equipping Ukrainian servicemen.

Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Tony Abbott for his timely assistance and support.

The Australian Prime Minister expressed his intention to make an official visit to Ukraine. According to him, Australia is opening an Embassy in Kyiv under the preliminary agreement. It will be operational in the near future. This will facilitate access to consular services for Ukrainian citizens, and will make it easier for Ukrainians to travel to Australia.
