Our (Ukrainian) people are truly amazing.
When Berkut came the strongest started chanting “We are standing still, we are standing still”. Most cowardly and useless – like us – retreated, but those men remain in their positions.
When the rumor about snipers on rooftops spread – people came out with laser pointers and flashlights to blind the shooters.
When it became clear that the official press will not show the truth – all Internet bloomed with constant flow of information – through social media.
When it was clear that journalists became targets – they simply removed their “press” stickers from their chests and stood with the people.
In many regions people block military troops, whom the government is trying to send to Kiev (Lviv, Odessa , Rivne, I think many other cities).
People are arrested – lawyers come to help.
People disappear – the whole Kiev is looking for them.
People come out with their dogs in homemade masks to catch those bandits who try to provoke fights. People leave their cars as barricades in the Square, buy all the medicines in the city and drag them to Maidan. Musicians play for people all night, in the cold, to keep the spirits up. Cute old grannies collect old glassbottles for Molotov cocktails to use if we don´t have other choice.
I do not know what will happen next, but after all these events, we just need to get rid of our feeling of unworthy as a nation – once and for all.
