” In Ukraine something has happened which has never occurred before during the country’s independence, and something which people never even dreamt of in their worst nightmare – armed combat in the centre of the city – and the Government (through its actions) has caused this situation. The (same) Government, which for 2 months has not listened to its citizens and has been pretending that nothing is happening.

“The Government has declared war on the people of Ukraine. And this has led to terrible consequences.”

“I implore all Citizens and Patriots to defend your country and your future. Today the place for all concerned people is here in the capital on the Maidan. The Government is bringing forces from all over the country but there are more of us, and we will be together. Get in your cars, minibuses or buses, you are needed here so that the victor can be Ukraine and not Yanukovych.”
