#EuroMaidan diaries: The Republic of #Maidan.

My glorious friends, I suppose you noticed that I haven’t announced about wine festivals special menus and other joys of bourgeois life since the end of November. This doesn’t mean that my restaurants stopped welcoming quests. Today I think it is inappropriate to broadcast peaceful marketing.

Ribbon of Maidan

Ribbon of Maidan

Blood has been shed, innocent people have been imprisoned, there are hordes of special police forces. From the perspective of a normal life of a normal person, this night is a nightmare that came true. Ukraine, all its citizens – from the homeless to the president – crossed the Rubicon. While everyone crossed their own personal Rubicon. None of us will return to where we vere two-three weeks ago mentally. The last straw was the first blooddrop spilt on Maidan. what is Maidan today? It is an absolutely real utopia city. For it is protected by defensive ramparts as well as there are unwritten laws within which one fells himself or herself as an ablolutely free person. You want to work – you are welcomed. You want to eat – you are welcomed. Feel cold – get warmed up. Bored sitting around the fireplace – get back to work. Got tired- go to sleep. woke up – a warm welcome to a new day of the honest city. The city as primitive as it is holy. if you haven’t been at Maidan yet, you should definitely go! You don’t have to tie ribbons or wave banners. Just come to have a look. Be the guest of this amazing city. But keep in mind, there’s a huge possibility that you’ll decide to become its citezen. You know, I want to believe that the current Maidan is the embryo from which will develop into a new Ukraine. Not in a month, not in a year. But will develop. Will definitely develop. Because in fact, today the city-utopia is not a utopia anymore. Maidan is an absolutely completely functioning organism which gives much more than it receives. This is the city that fills up its citizens not only with energy and power, but also with an outstanding faith. The faith in the triumph of justice and honor. And this faith has to become the new ideologic fundation of the new governmental system. We will verify with justice and honor those to whom we delegate the power to rule our new country.

Slava Ukraini!
