I am very sad today and face tomorrow with trepidation. More than 60 percent of Ukrainians fear that the takeover of Crimea is only a first step for Putin….he will then advance to eastern Ukraine and once he has conquered that territory, he will try to take over all of Ukraine. Only 17 percent believe that he will stop his aggression with the annexation of Crimea.
The Russian military is making noise in Kherson oblast on the mainland and we just got a call that the Kyiv Maidan is preparing to fight, as it may be attacked this night.
Russia continues to act like the bullying big brother it has been for centuries. Today at the UN National Security Council, Amb. Churkin continued to spread lies about extremists and nationalists taking over Ukraine and accused the US of being part of the plot of the revolution.
Russia vetoed the UN resolution on Ukraine’s territorial integrity, where 13 countries supported Ukraine, China abstained and Russia voted against.
Amb. Samantha Power told the Russians that they may have the power to veto a vote at the UN, but they do not have the power to veto the truth. Slava Ukraini and thank you, Amb. Power.
